Since I was brought up Roman Catholic I see it different I guess Sister.
They brought paganism into the church but did not teach against the practices.Instead they gave them other names and the people continued
to do them.Very similar to the statues that you see in Roman Catholic cathedrals.They renamed them but if you look through history and pagan
religon you will find these statues named after pagan entities.When Constantine declared that everyone must be a christian or die then many who were pagan were not converted but continued on in their former practices under the guise of christianity.If the truth be told yes many christians celebrate pagan holidays.You cannot bless that which is cursed.I began to
research a few years ago and institute other things into my childrens lives.
I don't feel you should make everyone miserable to be a christian but I believe that you should teach truth and bible.I prefer to study with my family the death,burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.The last church we pastored we changed some things around.We went on a time of fasting and prayer prior to
passover week and had foot washing and communion service instead and on the Sunday following when my husband taught on the Resurrection it made
the experience for me much more real rather than being at an altar after praying for hours on New Years Eve in the dead of winter proclaiming resurrection.I just shared yesterday that I truly miss pastoring and sharing
that special event with our church family.For many this is the first time they truly understood communion.We set long tables and all sat together and shared during this special evening about what the Lord went through that last Passover night.We had a neighboring pastor and his church over to share this with us.Everyone was allowed to share how the Lord had brought them out over the past year/life.I love people and love pastoring.I could see the change and effect this had on the congregation and it was beautiful.
I baked the unleaven bread that we broke and passed around the plate and drank goblets of juice instead of small plastic cups.It was more alive to me.This year I plan to do this at home with my family since I know of no other Apostolic Churches nearby that do this.
I don't blame people for not wanting to give up celebrations because most places don't give them any alternatives and it makes life miserable.
