I read this to mean the violator relinquished his position and preempted any action.

Of course not.
They have "monitors" instead.

If this is going to become a pattern in Texas they might be losing some very promient pastors!
I think incidents like this only make it even more appaent how ridiculous the legalism is in the UPC. It also shows what extreme measures must be taken to keep the house of cards from falling. You must enforce your legalism of common sense and logic will eat away at it.

BTW I am not so sure you weren't guilty of infraction when you say,

It could be, and is argued by some that you were under obligation to do so....

I understand the opposing view. For me, it wasn't good in practice. But I am talking about the ministry and not how laity is practicing things. (I understand there are also opposing views for those in ministry.) Laity often is not tied into things and into the legislation of it all in the same way that ministry is. Ministry has signed an agreement. Many put a disclaimer on the AS so that gives some loophole room as well. The point is that there is a right way and a wrong way to break rank. I don't personally feel that this instance was a good way to break rank. Ultimately, it is between him and God. But the district has some decisions to make regarding it as well.

Just want to say, I was raised by a UPC pastor & have several relatives that hold license with the UPC. NONE of them had or have TV's.
My parents didn't even let us turn on the TV in hotel rooms when we were kids and they weren't what most would consider conservative. We wear wedding rings, short sleeves & knee length skirts! LOL!
I would struggle with sitting under a pastor who belongs to an org that has asked their ministers not have TV & they have one. Where's the integrity?

He just did not feel the need to tell me I am not in the org. So he did not feel the need to share that. But if the guy said it then it is so whatever it is.
