When I was baptized the preacher did it in the name of Jesus Christ, when my wife was baptized the preacher did it in the name of Jesus Christ, when my oldest son was baptized I did it in the name of Jesus Christ, when my second son was baptized, the preacher did it in the name of Jesus Christ, when my daughter was baptized the preacher did it in the name of Jesus Christ, when my youngest son was baptized the preacher did it in the name of Jesus Christ.
But before any of us were baptized each had "...CALLED ON THE NAME OF THE LORD IN REPENTANCE AND IN FAITH ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS OF OUR SINS", according to the scriptures. No where in scripture are the exact words of the preacher defined, nor given as a requirement for salvation, RATHER IT IS IN WHOM THE BAPTIZEE HAS BELIEVED.
If a person has called on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, then is baptized as a result of faith in the name of Jesus, they have thus been baptized into Jesus Name. If the exact words of the baptizer ARE as critical as you define them, why does not the scripture clearly say, "these words must be spoken over a person by the preacher in order for their faith to become effective"?

Post of the Day ... by Michael the Disciple ... on another thread;
Quote:
....We cut the Trins down why? Because we say they are following traditions instead of the word of truth. Then something like this that is practiced in almost all Oneness Churches there is no scripture for period.
On the other hand Oneness Churches teach Hell for women who wear pants based on the Old Testament. Then they look at Old Testament scripture that honors the wearing of beards and say today it is a sin.
The double standard is pitiful. Everyone can see it accept the Oneness ministers. Even many of THEM know they are wrong but refuse to break with what they know is wrong.
I hope someday Oneness ministers will be a Biblical New Testament people.

There would be many here on AFF that would condemn him to hell even after laying down his life for Christ!
This has been a very interesting thread. My family for generations have been Pentecostals. The majority of them were Church of God (TN) and the rest comprised of Apostolics.
Before the passing of my grandfather who was a minister in the COG, many including myself honored him by staying in that church even though I was baptized before his passing in Jesus name.
I believe that my grandfather went to heaven, which some would sternly believe impossible; however, I flew in from San Francisco while he was on his death bed. There was such a heavy anointing of the Holy Ghost in that room that many hospital staff commented about what they felt. How does one judge another soul to hell without any personal knowledge of their walk with Christ? I am "Oneness" through and through, but I won't offend anyone with the message. You can be an effective soul winner by living the life and with loving the trinitarian, not hating them.
Now, when my pastor preached there was no way that a trinitarian minister, reference to my grandfather taken, could ever make it to heaven without obeying Acts 2:38, was the beginning of me looking outside the box and not limiting God on who would be saved.
It is very frightening to read so many judge others to hell for we all will be accountable one day for our words whether they were spoken in edification or judgment.
