I don't think there is any remote comparison to try and justify what is worn today from the time of Christ...
I am sure there were difference's but to somehow equate it to what is worn today would be like comparing a Midianite Woman's Dress to a Bikini....
They just don't equate...

What "immodest" meant then, I really don't know, but I'd say that it probably ranged from a little immodest to very immodest, but if they were dressing immodestly, I'm sure the Apostles taught them to dress modestly. .
My point is that saying the Apostles dressed worldly because they dressed like the other Jews is not a fair comparison. I'm not sure you said that, but that's what I was referring to.

It has more to do with Control than Shepherding... imo...
When this happens folks don't serve God they serve the man... and it's a dangerous place to be... Absolute Power corrupts... regardless of how "holy" one is...
Folks that serve the man become dangerously dependant upon him... and rely more on him than on God...
