I just realize my status, apart from Christ's work, is still guilty.

I allow sanctification to push me toward true discipleship, and that includes all the wonderful things you just types. However, I realize, that any "overcoming" is a work of the Spirit active in my life, and not about my "strong will," "want to" or anything else human. It's all back to faith. I believe Jesus, and that helps me overcome.
Absolutely. Strong human will, in most cases, will still leave room for failure. That's why it's imperative to walk in the spirit. When the spirit is strong, the flesh is weak, and vice versa. Re: Faith - When you truly believe, for instance, that I Corinthians 10:13 is TRUE, and that there is a Providential "way of escape", you may look around for the escape route in the midst of temptation, and walk out of it unscathed. Faith in God's Word can help us in many situations--believing that His promises are actually TRUE--that's powerful.

Re: Ministries for women porn addicts

I believe most of the people preaching complete abstinence (including self-gratification) got married the day after they graduated high school.... Which there's nothing wrong with, but with the amount of single people in their 30's and 40's now, those preachers can't even relate to what it's like for people who are single for a longer period of their life.... and I know that doesn't justify anything, I won't even share my views here on the subject beyond what I just said... it's not worth the time we would waste discussing it.

So why am I even here? I don't know, I can't figure out what cell phone to buy and I can't get a droid because AT&T butchered theirs...

Paul said it was better to marry than to burn. I wonder how old he was and how long he had been single? The solution is to satisfy sexual desires within the boundaries of marriage. Otherwise, Paul could have said...well...never mind.

I vote for a mail-order bride, if that's what's necessary. Or send out your "servant" to locate the perfect girl and ply her with jewelry and camels, aka, Isaac.

I've been married for almost 6 years now, so I could actually go to Heaven if it wasn't for my shorts and part-time goatee... and my U-Verse... and my rebellious spirit, and my love of life... I'm just thinking of other people who are still single.

So compassionate!!! LOL!!! That has to count for something...maybe it cancels out the shorts & goatee.

By the way, I proposed my own theory about Paul a year or so ago on here and it didn't go over very well... let's just say he didn't seem to have that type of desire...

Re: Ministries for women porn addicts

Again, Paul's statement concerning marriage and singleness was in view of his eschatology that called for a literal "imminent" return of Jesus. "Stay as you are." That may help us not be so dogmatic with what he's saying, and read the letter like a letter first to the audience it was intended, and second we can apply principle to us.

I think you're assuming too much about Paul. But you have the right to your own opinion. Paul said he kept the law of Moses. Phil 3:6
