if you were at a convention selling things like that where you were going to take in around 5 grand... what would you use for a cash box?
Probably a metal box with a plastic insert with slots for ones, fives, tens, twenties and a slot for pennies, nickels dimes, quarters etc?
That is exactly what I would use... and that is exactly what I would have to take home with me when I headed home.
That is not suspicious.
But... I repeat.
Cash is contraband?

Digging,
It still says this - "When TSA discovers contraband during the screening process that is not a TSA Prohibited Item,..."
All that means is they have the right to question, even if it not listed as a TSA prohibited item. That's all I'm saying.

If they discover contraband.
Cash is not contraband.
That's the point.
Neither are frilly night gowns, beef jerky or stuffed animals.
Let me ask this a different way.
Contraband is... goods or merchandise whose importation, exportation, or possession is forbidden ; also : smuggled goods

What an EXCELLENT idea.
Especially contraband in those suspiciously high amounts.

I think militia groups and domestic terror cells need review this and take notes.

Contraband is defined as any material item or good that is unlawfully:
* Possessed
* Produced
* Concealed
* Transported (including import and export)
* Bought
* Sold
* Rented
* Otherwise Transferred or Distributed
Counterfeiting is the crime of producing fraudulent money or other documents which are lawfully contraband.
Money can be concealed and it can be counterfeited - so money can be contraband.

Re: Harrassed & Detained For Carrying Cash @ Airpo
I guess there are some here that believe that TSA shouldn't question anything unless it's specified that they can and only if it is "illegal".
I operate on grounds for suspecion. Wearing a long dark coat isn't illegal. But I believe airport security is well within their rights to ask that you open your coat if they feel like you're suspecious. If you decline...I think they are well within their rights to take you aside or even take you down. In addition, if you're carrying enough cash to make the individual agent feel you're suspecious...they are within their rights to ask a few questions or take you aside for more information.
This isn't a game. I know some are making political sport with it. But this is serious business.

Just a reminder. You are not yet a gubment worker. You don't make or set rules. I take it you haven't read the back of a ticket either. Courts have held that a ticket is a contract and falls under contract law. You have a powertrip/headtrip attitude. You seem anxious to tell someone they need to stay of the plane.
You are expressing notions from your head and have not had either orientation nor training. I suspect it will be a challenge to last 30 days if you are approaching this from your giving everyone orders point of view.
Yes a buyer of a ticket is entitled to a flight. He by purchasing the ticket agrees to folow safety rules.
I get my info from a person that was over 300 agents at a cruise line that booked air, land and cruise ship tours.

It's true. Now they know how and what to do to evade agents. In addition agents are now going to be gun shy about asking questions. This is great stuff if you're part of one of these groups.
