That's just a mischaracterization designed to flippantly dismiss an obvious reality one wishes not to admit to or deal with.
The truth is that there are sincere preachers who preach with the ol' "preacher's cough" because that's what they were taught to do by example from their elders. It's a preaching style that is perpetuated by men who have no real "cough" like the ol' coal mining preachers did.
It's theatrics.

It's not natural to cry Hallelujah like a wounded opera singer. lol It's theatrics.
In fact, I've even seen and heard it in a few of the videos posted here.
Maybe you guys are so used to the practice you don't notice it.
When you've been away from the Sunday Show for a while... and then go back... it's glaring. It's almost like the entire room is caught up in the spell and you're sitting there thinking, "This guy is preaching with more vibrato than Pavarotti himself." lol

I believe you're more than a bit biased. Were I an attorney vetting a jury pool, I would move to strike you from the pool.

He's a liberal yankee, so that explains a few things.
Note to Aquila: regarding your so called "false vibrato hallelujah"... for all your talk about your pride in your heritage (Scot) you clearly know absolutely nothing except you like to wear a skirt on occasion.

I am a bit biased. But what I'm saying is true. But I'll admit, I've enjoyed the theatrics. I've even been guilty of it! LOL When I preached, I remember being told once that I sounded like, Jonathan Suber! LOL No one every taught me to preach like that. It was simply all I knew and when I got going, it came out. Was I sincere? Yes. But in hindsight, I have to admit, it was merely the theatrics of church culture.
Try to remember, it's not like I've never been there. I've been saved for over 29 years. I've been involved with house churches since eh, 2010ish. I've seen both sides. And, I'll admit, I've even seen some house churches that were just social gatherings with no real word, prayer, or worship. I'm primarily responding to the notion that those who don't attend traditional church, like Michael, are somehow lost or wayward. The painful truth is, one can be all caught up in the cultural trappings, forms, and fashions of church and completely miss that it's all about Jesus and being conformed into His image and likeness, not being "Apostolic".
So, yes, I'm a bit biased. I admit it. But, I'm telling the truth.

Evidently, I hit a cord. AHA. Oooohhhhh, you're not hearin', me. I said, I smaked a hornets nest and now the devil's angry. AHA. I've revealed some of the contrived fakery of traditional church culture. AHA. Now look atch ya neighbor and say, "Let's crush 'em with personal insults to drown the truth!" AHA. LOL

Re: Are Beards The Mark Of The Beast?
And that my friends, is the Sunday Show. No. They don't have fog machines and concert lighting... but they have their own theatrics, sincere or not, nonetheless.
But back to beards....
I look at it like this... the NT presents no requirement to wear a beard, nor any prohibition against wearing a beard. If a man ends up preaching against beards, his message isn't grounded in the book. It's a warning sign that the congregation is being conformed into the form and fashion of their tradition, not Christ Jesus via the Word of God. It's a rather small symptom of a far deeper and most often pervasive problem.

Re: Are Beards The Mark Of The Beast?
Dont you just love it when 10 times in the meeting the Preacher does something like this? For example:
Turn around to your neighbor and say..."The sky is blue"!
It seems this is in all Churches now.

Re: Are Beards The Mark Of The Beast?
In the words of EB, start your own church.
You and MtD should join up and start the perfect church. It would be amazing, the best really. Beards and veils everywhere. Come as you are, whether in your fancy duds or your pjs. You can put a big picture of fake Jesus sporting a beard behind the pulpit so you can point to it whenever you talk about living the bearded life for Jesus.
