I agree with your take. I don't think there is any person who ministers in one capacity will not have some ability to minister in another capacity as well.
My experience has been that there are some who think themselves Pastors who would have done better to continue evangelizing etc.
But... I also believe that, while I have been a shepherd to some down the road, I am foremost a teacher. Along those lines, while I do recognize the ability of various ministers to operate in the other ministries, I do believe that each of us has a key calling that our lives have designed us for.
I do feel that there should people whose key ministry should be that of a prophet as well as people whose key ministry should be that of an apostle.
I think that in todays church the end all-do all is that of the pastorate. Many (or most?) evangelists do what they do with the plan to one day finally get that pastorate.
And then with the thought that one can move in several ministries then todays end all-do all could possibly be looked on to be the apostle, the prophet, the teacher, the evangelist as well as the pastor.
I think that if the importance that is stressed on each ministry and the frequency in which each ministry is at work in the local church were correlated to a drawing of the five fingers of the hand that we would see one very malformed extremity.
