That would make the difference to know personally.

(and just as a matter of record, the best auto mechanic we ever had was very much a non-Christian, but he was honest, always was very truthful with us, and never over-charged us. We trusted him completely. He unfortunately dropped dead of a heart attack last year. We had in the past taken our car to a mechanic who was a Christian, and well..... we didn't have such pleasant results, unfortunately.)

I'm sure we stand by the opinion of our experiences on most anything. That's tough to lose a mechanic you trusted. I hope you locate another!

Certainly - that is a plus for sure! It's like - "Hey, I know where you live!" LOL!

Re: Modesty as described by the General Youth Divi
How silly is that to say you would only use a Christian as an auto mechanic.
People are people no matter who they claim to serve. Character goes beyond their faith, though should be important because of their faith. Choose a mechanic that has great reviews/recommendations, someone with experience and knowledge and someone you trust. If that means you demand to see their baptismal certificate, then more power to you. I know that's not what I'm looking for when my engine blows.

I agree, Jeffrey. If there are two really good mechanics and one is Christian and the other isn't, I'll probably go to the Christian one.
But if I look in the phone book to find one, and one has a cross or a fish in the ad and the other doesn't, I am cautious. I've been taken too many times by people I assumed were Christians and therefore honest, who said they were Christians but didn't act the part.

"People are people no matter who they claim to serve." Can't agree with you there. That is not always a true statement regarding Christianity vs. the secular world. Certainly there are good people in both, but to say "people are people" across the board is a fallacy, IMO. I haven't found that to be true.
If, in our experience, we have done better with a professing Christian in the public sector, then we would probably continue to, first, seek for that.
My daughter just passed her state and national real estate test and has hooked up with a very good Christian company that is very well respected and trusted in our area. That is just a God thing and I thank Him for it!
Perhaps we are just blessed that way.

Totally agree with you there, Mary! I don't trust the little fish sticker or emblem! LOL!
I think people say they are a Christian because they believe in Jesus. That doesn't mean they serve Him. Totally a different story!

Agreed. Separation of church and state, lol.

Are you no longer "people" when you come to faith in Christ? You do realize that these are still humans trying to conform to His image -- in the middle of that, there are immature Christians, those who struggle with lying, those who are hypocrites. Don't judge a person by the faith they profess (goes for me), judge me by my tract record, my fruit... what do other customers say. What does faith have to do with getting your car fixed? Come on, now. This is borderline ridiculous.
Christian company??? Why are we mixing faith with amoral things? Sure, support our own, but if that's your stopping point for judging one's professional skills, I think it's quite a shallow place to make that decision.

So to fix your car, do they have to talk in tongues in front of you too? Then you'll trust their professional skill?
