Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe this at all.
The national divorce rate is close to 50%...
Where are you getting this idea from... that the divorce rate among the [Jesus name baptized/ Spirit-filled] members of God's church is as high as it is outside of the church? ...or even close to being as high?
I don't think there are any statistics at all to support this. If you have such statistics, I'd certainly be interested in seeing them.

I wonder where the figures come from? It would seem to me that the divorce rate outside the church would be higher...

When one considers that there are over 200 million Pentecostals and over 200 million Charismatics ... which he may or may not have included under the Pentecostal banner ... this is an alarming number and is significantly more than outside this demographic ... even among the population as a whole
Oneness Pentecostals, if using French's number ... of about 12 million world wide would comprise 5-10% of this number of total Pentecostals/Charismatics worldwide....
I don't think the numbers would be as high .... but we'd have to admit anecdotally the numbers of Apostolics getting divorced seems to be increasing ... unfortunately.

When I think of "the church" I define that as Jesus-name-baptized/Spirit-filled saints. Apparently there are no stats for such Apostolics/Oneness Pentecostals. I don't know bro ... look at the forum .... quite a bit of divorcees here.
The numbers may be skewed also.....
Also, in many of our circles getting divorced still places a scarlet letter over them ... and they are then shunned or viewed as backslidden ... even if they are the "innocent" party...
I recently heard the testimony of one lady here in Texas who was no longer considered a church member in good standing after getting divorced from a man who had repeatedly had homosexual affairs because she did not reconcile with him ....
Such people may continue to label themselves Pentecostal but not part of a Apostolic church after .... this ... type of experience.
Some are too embarrassed to return to an Apostolic church ... because of the condemnation they most certainly face in a crowd that views short sleeves as a heaven or hell issue.

I don't think anyone with half a brain cell considers the forum to be representative of the general Apostolic population.
I sincerely hope not. Actually I think not. I don't think the forum is representative of the Apostolic population at all.
