Most do shave, a good brother who attends a nearby UPCI Church has always worn a big bushy mustache-he does it to cover a cleft palette!
It is more of a thing in the African American community, most shave because it is the norm.
Even ones who don't go to Church shave.

I have friends both in and out of the Church who wear beards.

Sorry Ron, I apologize for being rude.
I too know many good Christians with beards. I had one at one time and got rid of it just because it was a pain to take care of on a daily basis. And my wife wouldn't kiss me and you know what that means.  So I figured it wasn't worth the price.
Again, I'm sorry for being rude. I shouldn't be rude even when I disagree w/somebody.

I know a great many Brothers, many who are better Christians than I who have beards.
I was just asking a question if there "may" be a reason that people are linking this to that.
