You don't sound like a hick but you have a very strong southern accent I think.
I've talked with both Lady Coonskinner and Jill Flemming and both these ladies sound so much alike to me. I'm not sure if they're from the same area or not but their accent is very similar except I think Lady C's is a bit heavier.
They don't sound like hicks but I think Lady C sounds quite country.
I have to admit that I am southern....can't deny being born and raised in the south!

After so many years in the south, my NORMAL, wonderful, awesome, totally cool Wisconsin accent is slowly returning in full!
Now if I could just shake the bad habit words and phrases like "I'm fixin to go here" or "I'm fixin to do that".
And that proverbial habit forming "Ya'll"!
And that absolutely horrible pronunciation of the simple word "on". There isn't an A or a W in that word but try telling a southern that! And its contagious and a bad habit!
The "pop" vs. Coke issue I have conquered easily....EVERYTHING IS NOT A "COKE" but everything can indeed be a POP!

I think you should call Subdued so she can judge it!
