Or how about people having a heart attack and getting financially wiped out?
If Bro. Stedfast lived where I do, and collapsed as he did, he would be transported to the hospital by ambulance, seen immediately by the appropriate physicians, receive whatever care was necessary, stay in the hospital as long as required, and go home with his family finances intact.

I often shake my head over the deplorable situations that working Americans are forced into by profit mongering health care providers. America will never truly be the greatest nation on earth until it learns to look after its own citizens.

I also listen to sermons from CCC occasionally, but I balance them with sermons from Peoples Church. (I would recommend "Get Right or Get Left")

Don't worry. You won't lose a niece, you'll gain a nephew, and maybe a whole new generation of foot stomping, fiddle playing, flannel wearing grandnephews and nieces.

I think it makes a difference whether you have a team in your city or not. I never had any interest in the CFL either until I moved to Surrey, which is home to the BC Lions. Their head office and practice field is just down the street from our church. I rather enjoy following the team now, and of course it helps when your team is a winning team (Grey Cup).

The Boston Red Sox have been my baseball team since I was a kid, (being from Maine myself) so I am doing pretty good right now. We Red Sox fans are never happier than when our team is higher in the standings then NYY, who are 10.5 games behind right now. My son and I are going to a Red Sox/Seattle Mariners game in Seattle on Monday night. Then I fly to Boston and after a visit with family in Maine will arrive in NB in time to take in some of the Summer Summit.

exactly! you CAN get treatment, you juist might not be able to pay for it later....and then you cant pay for anything. or some such.

that doesnt mean Nationalized Healthcare is the prefered option...just that the current state of insurance availablity/cost structures is very much broken.

Ferd, this will soon be the debate in the US. Socialized Government ran medicine, or Free Enterprise ran medicine.

After all the Government is doing for immigrants......

if we can hold the debate off until RedTed Kennedy is no longer in politics it would be wonderful. Red Ted did much to cause the current mess with some of his bumbling business in the senate back in the 1970's working to create the HMO.

socialism is a poor answer to any question.

I would say if "Pastor" heard you heehee on this one - there would be "country"

Can't go thru a camp meeting without some country

There will be worship going forth to the King of Kings himself no matter what music is played

socialism is a poor answer to any question.
I've been reading comments about Canadian socialism as long as I've been reading these message boards. It always seems to crop up in any discussion of health care.

The question that I can't seem to get an answer for is, "How is our health care system any more socialistic than the American education system?" If American citizens can recognize the need for, and be willing to fund, a universal education system, why is it such a leap to recognize the need for a universal health care system, equally available to every citizen.
