I think our definition of "spiritual abuse" differs. Emotional or physical abuse is not "spiritual abuse," although they could be perpetrated by the one DOING the spiritual abuse. (Did that make sense?)
I'm not even talking about things that affect one's relationship with Jesus. NO, I *don't* have to allow ANY abuse to affect my relationship with Jesus. Just because a person is spiritually abused does not mean their relationship with Jesus is affected.
Having said THAT, I will add that I believe a person can be taught a distorted view of Jesus which they will have to UNlearn in order to RElearn who He really is. (I believe Michlow has explained that a few times.)

*grin* while I appreciate what you say and agree with you (more than you know) -- I'm pessimistic enough to think that things will never change.

I still dont know what needs to change here. everyone agrees that spiritual abuse happens and is bad.
but some here have allowed that spiritual abuse to affect their walk with God and others had done their best to suggest that such a thing need not happen. Or at the very least, move forward with the healing process.

I figured it out a long time ago and said as much.....looks like that got glossed over. I think we all have a view of what we think each other means before we speak thus we dont actually hear what each is saying....

I just like it spelled out nice & plain. It avoids misunderstandings and misinterpretations. Since there were still question(s) in my mind, the questions and comments [from me] continued - until I felt satisfied with the answers.
Now, hopefully, no one else will come & join this discussion and cause me to feel the need to figure out what THEY think on the matter. LOL

plus if we just cut to the chase, we wouldnt have these great threads. just a post and an answer and who wants that?
of all the threads out there, this may be one of the very best. lots of very good stuff from every side and clearly a lot of empathy and concern for hurting people.
