I guess I meant damage from the words of others. I have been called every kind of backsliding, apostate, rebellious label that you could possibly imagine. (You should hear the ones I get from preachers when I mention that I don't believe in tithing )

Now, I know I sound critical. But I myself was guilty of that kind of attitude for a long time. In fact, this thread itself showed me that I am REALLY good at sitting around and talking about the problem, but not very good at finding a solution. And I finally realized that I need to BE the solution. I can't continue to go on and complain about what is wrong with the church and how the church isn't doing what I think Jesus wants it to do. No. I need to go out and myself do what Jesus is asking.

You were all right. Sitting at home is accomplishing nothing. So I need to find someway to go out and be Jesus to the poor, needy, hungry and lost in my community. And if I need to do it alone, then so be it.
A church is a community. It grows, it learns, it falls, it makes mistakes...it needs help. Why not be a part of a community somewhere and help them despite their faults....and yours? Pray for them. Pray for the Pastor. Show them what it means to be a caring giving unselfish person and minister to other members and to sinners?

Well, technically, I AM a part of a community. Just not enough of a part according to the majority of people on this poll

Jesus is the head of the body. How can I show up or not show up when I'm spiritually connected to the Head -- Jesus Christ -- except by not doing His will?

He is the one that commands the parts to do His will. Not all of His will takes place within the four walls of a building at all times.
How can you not? Please give a solid provable reason for why a church that is building (whatever that means) can't at the same time minister to those outside the building?

Biblically "Church" is a local congregation that meets regularly that is part of a larger global group sister.

That is what Church is. It's those members that make up a local congregation/community that are part of a larger global congregation/community. Are you part of a local community?
