Thanks for your prayers, elder!

Haha! I appreciate any prayer that I find my way! Not very likely to return to legalism.

Re: Perplexed!
What some might call legalism might not be legalism at all. If we go to a nice restaurant and order a full meal. Steak, baked potato and the works, there are some things that come with the meal that we are just not going to eat. Kind of like the saying. "Eat the chicken, and leave or throw a way the bones. No problem. But there is also the saying, "Throw away the baby with the bathwater".That's not the thing to do either.
There were some teachings that came with the Pentecostal or apostolic revival, when our late grandmother and parents first received the Holy Ghost. Some followed after those teaching, never searching it out, just embraced them. Some things Grandma and our parents didn't buy. They searched and prayed, etc. before accepting everything. They searched the Word of God. They prayed and fasted, and looked to the Holy Ghost to lead and guide them. What did the children of Israel do. They followed the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. The Holy Ghost is our GUIDE today. Why not just turn it all over to HIM and follow the Spirit by day and by night! As long as we get our sights on MAN, we're just going to have other problems on down the road. Paul said to follow him as HE followed Christ. If we don't have the faith, or confidence to follow Christ on our own, ask the LORD to give you someone to mentor you until you can look unto JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our Faith, for ourselves.
An elderly retired Church of Christ told me a few years ago, "-----, in these 87 yrs that I have lived, I have come to the conclusion that the Baptists are not wrong about everything, the Pentecostals are not wrong about every thing, and the Churches of Christ are not RIGHT about everything. There is some wisdom in his words. I have found that I can learn something from most anyone. If I listen I can agree or disagree without saying a word, but learned something from that person. Sometimes we won't listen to what someone has to say because we don't like the source it is coming from.
There are some things that never changes. These things are eternal. They never change.

Re: Perplexed!
Do we have to take a ride on this merry-go-round again. You imply a whole lot in your posts about those that do not believe like you do.
Don't have scripture for your doctrine, no big deal, claim to have some special wisdom from God.

But that is what he is praying, specifically.

It's just emotion and feeling, in many respects. If you can appreciate the person, you can often look past their emotion.
The mistake here, I think, would be to try and engage in any rational manner. Reason and evidence (even evidence from the Bible) plays very little part in this.
