I don't think I"m wrong, NOW......I've seen clips of supposed prophets preaching on TBN and saying some very outlandish stuff posted on this site, and everyone has a hey day with them......very critical.......but, we have a UPC preacher getting pretty offensive, and many are rushing to his defense.
I'm an idealist, but I do understand that we have a hard time slamming one of "our own" over behavior and conversation such as this, but it still doesn't make it right.
I spent several years in the ministry, and again, maybe I"m naive, but I do not see anywhere in the scripture where we are allowed to stereotype, insult, criticize, or demean anyone and claim it's "under the anointing", I don't care what your personal style is.
The pulpit, the ministry, and preaching, in and of itself, is for the edifying of the body - it's not a stage for a comedy routine, especially one that's offensive in nature.
I have no problem injecting a bit of humor into one's message, have no problem using personal experiences that add spice to the subject, but in my opinion, this is crude, coarse, and offensive on many levels, and believe it or not, there are scriptures against this very thing!
And, the old tired scripture about touching God's anointed? Well, I hate to break it to you, but the preacher is not the only one who is anointed! The saints are too........
The way we treat God's children is the exact way we treat HIM!
On the Damascus road, when Paul was knocked off of his horse, he asked "Who are you?" The answer was "I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest!" Paul wasn't persecuting Jesus, he was persecuting the saints.....but, to God, if you mess with His saints, you mess with Him.
That's my point, feel free to disagree if you like.........
