Re: Modesty as described by the General Youth Divi

If only everyone would let the Holy Spirit tell them what to wear, then all these arguments would end!

What a perfect analogy for certain religious groups P-O. I can see how a wagon might look creaking across I-40! Perhaps that is the case, metaphorically speaking.

How do you propose that God will speak to you? A feeling? An angelic visit? Through the microphone in the pulpit (which will no doubt never encourage you to "leave")?

Personally, I believe He has already spoken. The truth of His words compel us to make these decisions in life, supported by prayer, and in tandem with our God-given ability to reason. Therefore, your mind is the real battlefield, and your performance there will ultimately determine your destiny.

Great post!

The LAST place one would expect a Word from the Lord in regards to a decision like this is from the pulpit of the church in question. At least not directly. I may come in the form of something said which is so over the top that any sane person would never return. In fact it would be the ultimate sign if your pastor came up and said "I believe that God spoke to me about you and He thinks He has a better church for you then here.".

One man's "over the top" is another man's "truth".

I'm still confused as to why we are talking about PO moving on or PO is talking about staying - - no one is saying anything about that.

However, what has been said is that you can't deny that the AI is being addressed throughout the ranks.

I suppose there will continue to be some that do not agree with it and will leave and others that will not mind and stay where they are - - it's a free world.

That analogy would work with a Jaguar. It appears an elderly man brought out the wagon analogy because he could relate to that. Ya thank?

I believe that ultimately if a person claims to have a true relationship with God, they will recognize and understand that voice or leading of God's spirit in their life. That direction can come through the Word, prayer, music, a dream, worship, a person, etc., etc.

Your mind can at times be a battlefield. I can agree with you on that. We do have the ability to reason. What we should never do is reason with carnal means, but spiritual. That is where I draw the line.

We have been in situations where people have advised us to leave where we are. Words, such as, "God wouldn't want you to endure that!", "It doesn't make sense for you to stay!", "That situation will never work itself out!", etc. etc.

And the still small voice - "I will see you through. Stay where you are. I will bring deliverance."

I weigh my decisions in prayer and that is where I ultimately receive direction. He hasn't failed me all these years and what He has spoken has come to pass. I take a person's criticism and advice with a grain of salt. Although, some have given good advice and it was a "confirming" factor in prayer. We must be sensitive to things things.

Our God-given ability should always be driven by spiritual motives and not carnal. Hope that is your point. I've read some posts and threads where the idea seems to be, "Whatever decision you make, God will support that." I haven't found that to be true in my life. So, I will do what I'm doing and what I know works for my household. My husband and I walk in agreement on that, so we have no worries.

That would be the point at the end game.

Re: Modesty as described by the General Youth Divi

Incidentally, the Lord taught me something as a new convert. I was praying and He impressed me to read the words to the song, Joy Unspeakable.

When I read this part of the song, I didn't need to go further. I knew what He wanted me to know.

Quote:
I've found His grace is all complete
He supplies my every need

While I sit and learn at Jesus’ feet
I am free, yes, free indeed
God is faithful! We have been through some tremendous things through the years, but I always knew if I could just get alone with God, everything would be all right.

I always loved that song.

It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, full of glory, full of glory.
It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, oh the half has never yet been told.

I wish you had been where I was and felt what I felt when I read the part that says, "when I sit and learn at Jesus' feet, I am free, yes, free indeed."

So many voices, so many doctrines, so much division, so much........

"When I sit and learn at Jesus' feet" - I am free!
