But we have a Scriptural responsibility not to be deceived, and to exercise discernment.

Part of the agenda is to paint those who are cautious and careful about deception as unloving. This is not true.

But anyway, I am done with this.

Carry on.

I don't think anyone is being unloving...I just think people are too quick to rush to judgment. From the very first doubting comment that Newman made, you can sense in her writing that she came forth with the "guilty til' proven innocent" approach. I think she could have expressed her concerns without the attitude of "I'm not buying it"...

As I stated before, if CBO's agenda was to promote a gay message, why on earth would he ask godly folks to go those dying with AIDS and take up the role that gay ministers are assuming. If he wished for homosexuals that are dying with AIDS to understand that they are going to heaven regardless of their sinful lifestyle, wouldn't he prefer for gay ministers to continue bringing this supposed message of hope and wouldn't he wish that godly ministers stay away since they would speak the truth about the sin of homosexuality and that repentance from that lifestyle is necessary? Having said that, I think it is evident that his underlying desire was to say to us "hey, please remember those outcasts of society for they too need a Savior" and not that he was in search for validation.

I smell a person that may have witnessed so many dying with AIDS and is horrified and wishes that they find hope in Jesus Christ and that as he looked out his window and remembered there was a march for AIDS awareness...he was pricked to the heart and saw a group of people that need the gospel just as anyone and that this group is shunned by society.

I don't smell a rat, I smell a mourner.

I wasn't buying it. His initial post painted a picture of one who was shunned and/or rejected by the church because he had AIDS.

"Many of you I've known or I've met through my years of association with the UPCI. I didn't leave the UPCI, but I realized that it had left me. I am dying of AIDS. I know longer will hide in shame for I was made in my God's image: Though flawed and scarred, I won't ever forget his work in my life. I've lost my wife, my family, my church, but I thank God everyday that I have not lost my faith. I didn't let the tragedies of life harden my heart. I'm no saint by any stretch of the imagination, I'm just a product of my maker's hands."

We read the heartfelt posts of two known posters whose churches did not reject an individual member with AIDS, but had in fact embraced them with great love and support (as I would expect of the church of God).

Twenty-seven pages later, Chosen recants. Ok....

J- Roc- For the record; I work with the downtrodden and/or those scorned by society on a regular basis. (drug addicts, alcoholics, victims of sexual abuse, people with mental illness and AIDS). I generally have a pretty good idea of authenticity. Do you?

Newman, what makes you think you have a corner on authenticity ... your life experience or profession???....

You might be very surprised at knowing that Jeff's profession, level of education, and life experience also has given him insight on human behaviors ... including the behaviors of the esq. I marvel on how some relish this notion that some how they've got to lead the AFF flock.

If you don't believe CBO fine ... if you want to continue a campaign to discredit him ... go right ahead ... this was never about his veracity but about a simple request he made .....

The question that's run thru my mind since the very beginning of this thread: Why doesn't someone just contact Bro Kilgore and ask about this guy? If he's had the relationship with him that he claims to have had, he'll know who you are talking about and can verify "yes" or "no" regarding it's authenticity. Don't ask for details. Just ask for verification.

I work at a law firm (as do you), I volunteered in our pro bono program with the NY AIDS clinic where we help those dying people with their wills, proxies, etc. I work with the best of the best as my firm is in the top 3 in the world in most General Practice areas...I sound like a fool saying all this as if this pedigree stuff validates anything...

I generally have a pretty good idea of authenticity also....shall we dance?

What is your point of asking me that question?

1. Not a corner, but a grasp... All of the above PLUS a couple of points not mentioned...

2. Yes, it sounds like I would most likely be surprised given the posts directed at me.

3. Lead the AFF flock? ROFLOL I am usually not around to post unlike the the number 1 poster on the board.
