There are some equally ultra-sensitive women who think every male or masculine tone or behavior is "abuse" and "persecution." They tend to see every defense of the Apostolic man as an attack on "abused" Apostolic women everywhere. I can't abide it. The men in our lives (mine in particular) deserve to be appreciated and respected. !!

Persecution is persistent mistreatment of an individual/group by another group. The most common forms are religious persecution, ethnic persecution, and political persecution. Persecution is not recognized as such by persecutors, only by their victims or outside observers.
Persecutors see no wrong in their actions, or rationalize it as a small or short-term wrong to counter what they see as a larger, more serious wrong, as in "The ends justify the means". Most commonly, this is expressed as seeking to protect themselves or their families or society from what they see as the harmful influence of the persecuted. Persecuted groups or individuals are often labeled using pejorative terms, which reinforce their social alienation. Use of such terms with strongly negative connotations allows individuals to avoid examining the true nature of their relationship with the persecuted.
For almost anything, which could be cited as an example of persecution, there will be those who claim it is legitimate, personal or social self-defense. Throughout history there have been many examples of the destructive or senseless use of political power. This happens most frequently when too much power has been concentrated in too few hands, without enough room for political debate, public criticism, or other types of correctives.

Well said and it does apply.

Everytime this topic comes up, I am amazed. I am amazed, because the men that attend our church are gentleman, they work hard to provide for their families, they are good fathers, good husbands, good citizens and good Christians. So where are the abusers?
I'm not saying it doesn't exist; I know that it does. But it IRKS me when that is attributed to the church, rather than the few jerks who perpetrate it. We had a young couple in our church, whose husband left a mark on her...and her father and brother and a few others took him "out behind the barn", and shortly he left his wife of his "own accord." And that was that.
Our church culture does NOT support abuse. There may be some chauvinistic men around who do...but it does NOT have anything to do with the church "culture."
I am getting so sick of this RHETORIC. Really.
STRONG women stand up for themselves, and they're smart enough to blame the person who is supposed to be blamed...not make vague, meaningless, prejudicial, stereotypical, unintelligent accusations against a large entity that can't possibly be responsible for the bad choices of a few of its members.

Two men went into a diner and sat down at the counter. They ordered two sodas, took sandwiches out of their packs and started to eat them. The owner saw what was going on and approached the men. "You can't eat your own sandwiches in here," he complained. The two men stopped, looked at each other, and then swapped their sandwiches.
Sometimes maybe we just need to swap our opinions for a while and view things through the eyes of others.

Again the conversation always has a way of drifting to the first UPC. I don't understand.

Understood. We all reply to initial posts with our own thoughts and responses. Mine was what it was. Others are what they are.
I understand people go through hard things.
Discussion is about sharing of ideas and opinions on a particular topic. We all do that. And we all do in in individual ways. Do you dictate what is relevant to a discussion? I don't think so. What you feel is relevant, I may not. What I feel is relevant you may not.
