Re: Perplexed!
My resignation letter:
Quote:
First of all, thanks for taking time to respond to my previous concerns about the direction of Christ Church.
After much thought, prayer, and council from people that I trust, Anita and I have decided it’s best for us that we begin to look elsewhere for a place of worship that is more comfortable to us and congruent with our Pentecostal charismatic background. This is a very hard decision for us as we have loved and been faithful to Christ Church for many years, and really enjoy your thought provoking messages.
To us it comes down to what I believe to be a crisis of leadership. We simply don’t have confidence in those you’ve apparently chosen to develop and replace you. With the apparent deterioration of the PCI roots of Christ Church, which attracted us from the beginning and kept us there for many years, we want to experience other charismatic type churches in our area that may not have so much liturgical type influence in their worship services.
We simply choose to move on in a slightly different direction than the road that Christ Church has apparently chosen.
Blessings,

No. I think the elder (if it was addressed to the elder as it seems) will take it to heart.

I am not some crazy charismatic who left so I could sin all I wanted.

Deltaguitar,
My eldest brother was in college when Dad opened the doors to the little church plant the Father planted in our town. He was baptized when he was around 13 yrs old. He wasn't there at the first. Later on, many years later, after marrying and a series of events he began coming to church with his wife and children. He had married a Baptist girl. (She and their 2 children had received the Holy Ghost shortly after they started coming to church.) His wife, and son had been in a terrible accident. God spared them miracleously. That was part of the series of events that drew them to the church. Many years later my brother said. while teaching a Sunday School class, "When I was out there in the world, I always knew I had a place to go back to, and it meant everything"!
For many years he was faithful in attendance and giving, etc. But he had never received the Holy Ghost. For many years he would go to the alter and pray. But one Sunday night in 1982 or 83, an guest preacher came and his message was on "The Power of The Past". How that some had a past to rely, but some had used their past and had no past to rely on, etc. Spoke on how Hezekiah reminded God of his past and God gave him fifteen more years.
My brother said it was not like any other night, and before he hardly knew it, he was speaking in tongues. Another of our brothers, a bit younger was renewed in the Holy Ghost. I felt like we all got it all over again. What a refreshing. That's been a long time ago now. My brother is very involved in an apostolic church. You could not persuade him that the Holy Ghost is not real and and that it is evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterence.
May God do whatever it takes to open your eyes to the truth. I believe you are sincere, but sincerely wrong. You cannot see/enter into the kingdom until you are born again of water and of the Spirit.
Deltaguitar, I have a life outside AFF, and I don't have to get on this forum and say all that I do, but I love you enough to tell you the truth. The knowledge of the truth will set you free. You have to KNOW the TRUTH to be
set FREE!

Re: Perplexed!
Everyone here knows how I would feel about Christ Church when it was at it's best that is no secret. However I feel for my friends at this point in their life to be forced to do what they are having to do. It is not easy after all the years they have invested there BUT maybe this will be a step toward home? I pray that it will.

Norman,
Without exception, everyone of we eleven siblings received the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gave the utterance.
Your late father played a part in our late father's experience in knowing that the Pentecostal way was real.. They were classmates in school back in the day. Your Dad also baptized two of my siblings and I, in 1953. Five yrs later Dad opened
the doors to Jesus Name Pentecostal Mission on a crisp, cool Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 1958, 53 yrs ago next month.
Little did we know back then, that JESUS was preparing a place for our then future children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. What was being prepared by faith back then , has become reality today.
