Cn one thing that really bothered me as a child (as I lay on the couch) is that I would see pictures of lynchings and I would see the perpetrators posing and smiling with the bodies. Even at that young age, I realized that most of those perpetrators had to still be living...many were documented as law enforcement, etc. It sent a message to me that noone was tracked down and charged with murder even though we were now enlightened and hadphotographic evidence. I'm sure that that thought never did cross the minds of most of my White classmates, and I would not really expect it to.
My point is that you always have to leave room for the human element and the fact that all have different experiences, and ultimately we are the sum total of those experiences.
Yikes. That is a disgusting and sobering thought.

I always did want to ask people about that. There is just so much that can be gleaned and learned by just talking.
There's no statute of limitations on murder...at least, I don't think there is.

At the risk of sounding really racist or self-righteous, I just hate when Black people do things that are stupid on a national level. It makes all the rest of us look bad. It gives credence to the thoughts of those who would want to second guess the decency of all the other Blacks.
Just like when you hear a bad story of a new believer in an Apostolic church where "standards" become the "gospel" and they end up backsliding to become a worse demon than before.
I was listening to the Tom Joyner moring show on the way to work one morning. One of his guests made the comment when referring to the 9/11 perpetrators: "I was so glad that none of those guys were Black."
Then they both laughed a little bit in a relief that was mutually shared. I chuckled to myself to, sharing that same relief.
I've seen several black congressman criticizing Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for promoting racism, so I don't think you are alone in your feelings.
It's the same thing as Pentecostals having to be careful what we do and what we say - it reflects on every single Pentecostal.
Same with this woman - as you said - on the national level - not good overall.

No, I know that there isn't, but by now I'm sure most would be dead. I may have just been a wierd child, but that was one of the first things that I would think when I saw those pictures...some not even 30 years old or so. But I think that you would have to be able to step into someone else's shoes just to be able to get that perspective.

I think a lot of people would be surprised to find out how many Black people recognize Sharpton and Jackson as jokes. It's just that they make for good TV and the networks know they can get a reaction by trotting them out.

I guess it is like that train wreck - you just want to watch it.

There have actually been times when a well-spoken, logical Black pastor has gotten on national news and given an intelligent, balanced opinion on a matter, when my first response was "Well, I guess we'll never see him on national news again". So far I have always been right.

Thomas Sowell is awesome. There is another black writer, who is also a pastor, on Townhall. I can't remember his name, but he always writes very intelligent articles. I'm too tired to think of his name.
