I know. Isn't that sad that a man had to abandon his pastor because so many whites can't handle the fire of a black preacher who grew up in a generation steeped in racism and discrimination.
Chris, quit bringing the whites into this. The blacks were also on him about his pastor's comments!
You continue making this a racial issue where there is none. Why do you continue to divide this issue?
The rest of your post was irrelevant to the issue. Address the issue, Chris.

How can you say that? Most likely? Based on what? Anyone can appear likable
If I heard any Pastor say something THAT extreme and racially charged I would have a problem with it too. This goes beyond the "get your attention" factor. Anytime anyone does it, I would say it was a stupid move if they did not really believe it to be true
You're sure? How can you be sure? Let's deal with facts. The pastor said it. Obama says he never heard it but strongly condemns those things that were said.....hmmmmm
Again....you know this for a fact?
Most Likely???? What do you base this on?
Same with above....
Even Obama distanced himself from what the preacher said....Apparently he thinks enough of the voters would see it the way many of us here do too. It seems pretty explicit. Did the preacher himself say he was misunderstood? Did Obama?
Some people are also idealistic and look at things through rose colored glasses. Sorry, but Im just looking at the facts. It's not about feelings. I defended Obama against the Muslim accusations....because I just looked at the facts
Prax, I don't believe Chris knows anything. His post was complete assumption.
There is a reporter who attended a service with Obama. He said that Obama was nodding his head in agreement while his pastor spewed that mess.
The reporter was there. Chris was not.

I heard a wonderful sermon on race about six months ago. It was spoken in a church where there are about as many black folks as there are white. They have a white pastor.
He spoke to the black folks and dispelled the myths and stereotypes they feel about white folks. He said that white folks don't wake up in the morning with the intention of doing the black man wrong. White folks aren't 'out to get them'. He mentioned other things as well. I have the CD somewhere, and there is a member here who also has it, as he asked me for a copy.
He addressed the white folks and did the same thing. He spoke about how a group of black boys on the street corner doesn't mean they are selling and buying drugs. He spoke against the myths and stereotypes as well. It was a great service. Everyone, both black and white, amened him and it was a great service.
There are also a few hispanics in that church, but I took a look around, as I was just visiting there. I've seen segregation in churches before, but was amazed that it wasn't here. Blacks, whites, as well as the hispanics were all sitting together instead of being in groups. I know several people in this church and have for years, both black and white.
Someday I'll clean this computer room so I can find that CD. I'd love to hear it again.

You should not feel threatened by this, as the "punishment" to come referred to in this article will be "divine" in nature, not at the hands of militant "idiots". These folks do not have the power, money, or influence to bring about their babblings.
Furthermore, because they are so open with their contempt for peace and brotherhood, anything they might possibly attempt to bring about that "divine punishment" themselves will be met with superior force, and they realize this.
f-khan is a very educated man, most of his followers are not so educated.
If the FBI monitored MLK Jr, do you think this nutball is in the clear? I don't.
Freedom of speech and press are guaranteed, for the American idiot as well as for the rest of us.

LOL! Yes, I have to agree. Sometimes her statements are a joke, but her point is that he is acting as though he lived through more than he did. I agree with her on that point.
Where were you when the television news reported that the American government had be conducting medical experiments on your people? Do you remember how outraged you felt? Jeremiah does. Ann Coulter's speaking where she knows even less than he does.

It embarresses me that you would chraacterize someone accusing the Federal Government or CIA of creating the AIDS virus to kill Black people as "a bit misinformed".
That is a ridiculous marginalizing of outrageous statements.
You just refuse to deal with the concepts of personal responsibility and accountibility to truth and rationality that ALL Americans have regardless of their skin color.
When you make excuses for this kind of outrageous hate mongering you are not helping those you seek to help.
I'm not excusing it, I admit that it's ingorant and uninformed...however...the American government has performed experiments on black people and this is why this kind of myth can so easily be believed.

Not when it backed up by NAACP, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton.
Not when white men loose jobs by a slip of the Tongue.
....the last guy said "Nappy" ....give me a brake........
Look what happened to "The Dog".....
Blacks can basically say what ever they want, where ever want on any kind of media.
Let a Powerful white man insinuate anything about a Black and all civil rights groups come after him.
Whites are getting tired of it.
Riiiighhhht. Poor wittle rich white guy. Get real dude. LOL I'm a white man and I don't have that much of a complex. LOL

I must agree.
C Hall, for once, it would be refreshing to see you display the intellectual courage and honesty to say that this man's words were inflammatory, divisive, and just flat out wrong.
Do a search on how many times I've called JW's statements inflammatory. I think they were even ignorant. But I'm not a little lady who will faint and fan myself over them. White preachers say things just as bad all the time. I see what he said in context. He's a man of his era.

Would it pain you that much to state the obvious?
You know full well that if the roles were reversed.... if this was Huckabee/McCain etc, at a white church where a conservative pastor was making equally false and hateful comments, [B]you would have no problem bashing him!
Actually I really like Huckabee. If he were the Republican nominee I'd vote for him in a heart beat.
Quote:
Are you so beholden to your liberal ideology that you'd have no problem criticizing a Republican/conservative in this situation, but you bend over backward to make excuses for a liberal who makes such false and inflammatory charges? That's how it's appearing to me, more and more. And I think that's unfortunate.
Again, do a search on the term "inflammatory" in my posts. You'll see that I've called JW's statements inflamatory many times. What you don't see is me using his inflammatory statements as an excuse to rail against him and render evil for evil or railing for railing. They were inflammatory statements made by a man who lived through the civil rights movement. I'm not surprised....I'm not in shock....actually if the man had come out praising the white establishment as he knew it I'd know there was something wrong. LOL

JW and CH share a common enemy. It is called those who are opposed to insane liberalism.
thus CH must defend in ally.
I've not entirely defended him...I've just tried to put his statements in context. The man is a black man who lived through the civil rights movement and happens to be a preacher. Guess what...he's gonna say a lot of things we will disagree with. That doesn't give you or anyone else an excuse to assemble a lynch mob. We hear his statements and agree where he's right and disagree where he's wrong. It's called civility. JW's clearly illustrated that his comments were based on if America continues to play God. In this respect any solid man of God would agree with him.
