mizpeh- I don't think that "thinketh no evil" in the context written stands for the idea that we should "think the best of one another, that's where we should begin and then minister as the need dictates."

My understanding in the brief time considering the issue would be that "thinketh no evil" in the context written, stands for the idea of not harboring grudges.

If we were never able to think evil of someone; there would be no need for locks, reference checks, or prisons.

Both Jesus and Paul made it very clear that all that claim to be of God are not and we should KNOW that. There are multiple, multiple Scriptures that support recognizing evil people and purpose, not disregarding it.

As but one example; Paul wrote "For I know this, that after my departing shall grevious wolves enter in among you, (my emphasis) not sparing the flock.

Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Therefore, watch and remember by the space of three years I ceased not to warn everyone night and day with tears (Acts 20:31).

At least, there was a warning of the possibility... What more can one do?

That's about it.

There is a bigger agenda here than just this sad individual we are discussing.

There is an underlying ideological issue that serves as an undercurrent.

having said that, I certainly understand the concerns that have been raised by some of the posters here. red flags were rightfully raised on many fronts. anyone who cannot understand this is strictly viewing the issue through emotion.

I commend CC for balancing his post with rational reasoning coupled with mercy, warmth and compassion.
Who are you, and what have you done with Thad?!?!?

There were only TWO misspelled words in that post!

I will endeavor to make this my last post on this debacle of a thread.

No one, and certainly not me, has suggested that this or any other individual should not be loved and prayed for.

But we have a Scriptural responsibility not to be deceived, and to exercise discernment.

Part of the agenda is to paint those who are cautious and careful about deception as unloving. This is not true.

But anyway, I am done with this.

Carry on.

let me add just one thing...along the line of Scriptural responsibility.....

to do our best to get those who need repentance to do so.

i just read this Thread for the first time...

It would seem that in what is written there is a "justification" being laid down for "accepting" the lifestyle that brought on the disease...

I would say the admission of it is being honest but the verbage is somewhat decietful in that it's not a confession but an omission...

Confessing would be displaying guilt and asking for forgiveness and repentence followed by a change of lifestyle...
There is no change here as far as I read... therefore no change in the person as far as I read..

What I do read is the justification qualified by "Ministry" in the brain of the who wrote it.. and it's wrong...

Sin will be judged by the Word of God not men...and if one continues in sin without repentence and change he will be judged by the Word...

I would suggest that you pray for an illumination of the Word of God and pray that God would help you to overcome even in the midst of your weakness.. and give up that lifestyle and come back to God...

Don't fool yourself into thinking that getting what you want is tied to the justification of sin... God rains on the just and the unjust...

As loving and as full of compassion as I am, there is still a reason to be cautious on this one, IMO.
