We know Bro. Samuel and Sis. Tirzah as well as the Holts very well. I'm sure you and your husband will be a blessing to the work there.

We'd like to be... we're both pretty involved - but it's kinda hard for me because my language skills are quite limited - so mostly I use a translator for teaching etc... My husband's spoken Chinese is pretty good - but when it comes to preaching, he preaches in English still - English is more of his "native language" now... and also, his reading Chinese isn't as great - like for reading the bible...

But back on the topic of Hong Kong, one of my TOTAL favourite place is Cheung Chau - an outlying island. It's awesome!! I gotta run now but I'll come back and tell you more about it

Are you studying the language? It really isn't all that difficult.

We've been to Cheung Chau but we went more often to Lantau. We vacationed there a couple times with our children and had a great time. There's the most wonderful beach there and it goes forever.

I love HK!

I'm learning Cantonese - I'm doing ok - I can get by in the street with someone who doesn't speak English. I hope to become fluent some day, but I think that will take forever!!

How long were you guys in Hong Kong for? Did you learn Cantonese?

Are you talking about Mui Wo/Silvermine beach? I've heard of it but never been. I want to though!! Actually, the Ma's live in Mui Wo. I really need to go there some time - I've heard it's beautiful!! But I love Cheung Chau so much so every time I have a chance to go to an outlying island, I always go to Cheung Chau!!

About Cheung Chau, it's name in English means "Long Island" and it's a gorgeous island with gorgeous beaches, some hills for hiking, bikes for hire, great seafood and really good "local life"!! And there is this dessert that you can ONLY find there - in English it's called "mango dumpings" - and it's mango wrapped up in this sweet kinda sticky wrap - soooooo good!! (ok, I admit, that's one of the reasons why I love Cheung Chau so much!!)

Here's a pic of the Cheung Chau coast:

Oh - also...

I was going to post some pictures but I don't know if I can on this forum (it said something about needing moderator approval)... so if you want to see some pics of Hong Kong (they were from my Brother's trip here in April), go to http://s243.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/Hong%20Kong/

There are 8 pages of them - but there are some GREAT pics there. My brother is quite the photographer!!

Yes you can post pictures. After your 10th post you will not have to be moderated.
