The disciples' names were already recorded in heaven prior to the cross or Pentecost.
What a dilemma.

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. Rev. 17:8

Not everyones name was put into the book of life from the foundation of the world.

Is it "names written" from the foundation or the "book of life" that has existed from the foundation?

If you are not an overcomer you will be blotted out. We overcome by the word of our testimony and the blood of the lamb. Our testimony can be that of our repentenace and we are covered by the blood at baptism......

Times and dispensations are considered for who is in the book of Life. And it all points to the cross ahead of time, for those before the time of the cross, in faith, and afterwards. One must be obedient to their particular covenant.

I see no dillemma.

Are you saying the disciples and those that followed Jesus don't fall under the New Covenant? Mary didn't need to the baptism of the HG? etc .. etc.

Before the cross the new covenant had not begun yet. Do you believe the cross is not a factor in this issue? Those who followed Jesus before the cross had to experience the new covenant experiences after the cross.
