I was 17 years old and had been saved for 7 months.

The person doing the baptizing was L.R. Mitchell who was in the process of leaving as pastor of Bethel Tabernacle (UPC) in Racine, WI to go to Minot, ND to start a new church.

I had gone to the church in Milwaukee with some folks from Union Grove, WI to attend some kind of a service. I don't remember if it was a sectional/district conference or what. The church was under construction and was meeting in what would later be the basement of the church. There was no baptistery constructed yet but there was a wooden box with a plastic liner that they filled with a garden hose.

I had been reading some UPC literature and noticed that there were inconsistencies from one to another. Some said the Father's name was Lord, the Son's name was Jesus, and the Holy Ghost's name was Christ so the threefold God had a threefold name which was "LordJesusChrist." Some said that Jesus was the one name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Was Bro Ellis the pastor of Elim at the time? Frank Tamel pastor of Parkway Apostalic Church in Oak Creek, WI near Milwaukee and where I live.

Came out of Elim Tab in 1971 to start Parkway a UPC church.

I no longer attend there but it is a great church of over 1000.

I was baptized when I was 13 years old and I still remember it today. All these years later it is still fresh on my memory.

When I was almost 7 in 1970 by Marvin M. Arnold in the church basement's baptismal tank. Last words I heard before going under were, "Be as stiff as a board!" I opened my eyes under water and remember seeing bubbles ascending as I was descending.

Better to see bubbles than blisters!

When I was 7, in Grayville, IL by Pastor Ernest Easton. We had a horse trough in the back of the church that was covered most of the time by plywood and served as a table for a little bit of everything. It had to be all cleared off for baptisms. My sister and cousin got baptized the same night.

Yes, Bro. Ellis was pastor of Elim at that time.
I guess Bro. Mitchell baptized me because I came with some folks who were going to his church. Bro. Ellis was not related to me, we just happened to have the same last name.
