Depth is VITAL. Paul spoke of the deep things of God in 1 Cor., and commented how he could not speak as unto spiritual people when he wrote to them. He had to speak as unto babes. So depth is the mark of spiritual maturity. And we are ALL INTENDED TO GROW.

But spiritual maturity does not occur spontaneously as does physical maturity of the flesh. You must dig into Christ with faith and prayer and bible study to spiritually mature.

We are far too much suffering in our day from spiritual shallowness.

He that built his house had to do it a certain way; that is, he digged deep and laid the foundation upon a rock..
he did not dig shallow, but did dig deep....:diggin

Somebody want to define spiritual depth? What do you mean when you say that exactly?

How do you measure it?

Here are some thoughts of my own that I wrote down a bit ago in regard to what I think of when I think of "spiritual depth".

Knowledge:
  • Of God and His Word. Not only knowledge of but understanding and discernment of both as well.
  • Of the will and purpose of God as it relates personally and generally.
  • Of what is expected of us as believers and followers of Christ.

Relationship:
  • Effectual fervent prayer that goes beyond average
  • Intimacy with God
  • Deep rootedness
  • Submission and yieldedness
  • Consecration
  • Sold-outness
These things come only through time spent with God in prayer and in an understanding of the Word of God.

Service:
  • Humility & love
  • Level of sacrifice
  • Willingness to serve others

Spiritual Depth is great awareness of who we are in Christ and of what God did for us on the cross so as to render our lives applicably powerful in both activity in the supernatural and Christlikeness in the fruit of the Spirit, manifesting His will and His actual BEING through us into this physical realm.

Depth....Walking in the light as He is in the light...not only hearing (faith) but doing as well (love)....until we as the body of Christ are conformed to His image as one perfect man
