Mangu is a traditional dish from the Dominican Republic, consisting of green platano bananas boiled, mashed and seasoned with butter or oil to get a better tasting. It is traditionally eaten for breakfast or dinner, topped with sauteed onions and accompanied by fried eggs, cheese or salami. There's also mofongo ... another dish made w/ plantains.
Mofongo - Mofongo is a popular Afro-Boricua [Puerto Rican] dish, made from fried green plantains seasoned with garlic, olive oil and pork cracklings, then mashed. Mofongo is usually served with a fried meat and a fish broth soup.
