Church splits can be really nasty.
My wife says that's the only way Oneness people start new churches but that is an oversimplification.

After the split, there is somewhere around 45-50 left in the church. The other hundred went with the pastor.

How do you feel about the split?

Are you glad you followed your Pastor?

There's also the ABI and BAO, there are over 100 oneness organizations out there... I'm beginning to think just being indipendent is the best way to go though... I've always found that each organization seems to say, you have to be just like us.

A blessing!! In the end I didn't leave because of a man. I left because of a principle. I support my pastor. He is one of my closest friends. People will say it was about a man but it wasn't. Just glad this part of the process is over. As we got closer to the vote it became evident he was going to win and win by a large margin. The thought of him winning scared me to death. Hopefully we all can move forward and start the healing process. I have nothing againt the UPC. Personally I would have rather the otherside go find another organization but they weren't going for that.

deltadawn,

I am assuming when you say you "went with the pastor" that you actually mean you "stayed" with the Pastor? If he won the vote overwhelmingly doesn't that mean he stayed at the church (physical plant) with the 100 and the 45 left?

Would you care to share some of the things that need healing?

I was in the UPC for 17 years in Norfolk, Va. My old Pastor resigned and the church building and properties were sold.

The old members are scattered. By God's grace we moved away two years before the brake up.

No. Pastor resigned before the vote. The build up to the vote got so ugly that there was so much damage done he and most of the members couldn't stay there. He left and 100 of us followed.
