I was present in attendance in the meeting hall in Salt Lake city in 1992 when the Document From Hell was debated, ammended and finally passed by a standing majority vote.

Brothers Price and Kilgore were the two strongest proponents of the Document. Brother Price was not on the platform but Bro. Kilgore gave his strong opinion as to why it should be adopted. I sometimes wonder if it would have carried had he be against it. He carries so much influence.

Since the passage of that resolution, there has come in our ranks a great deal of division caused by it. This I feel is the cause of brother Kilgore's regret, though he never expressed to me this exact sentiment...only to say that he wishes that he could do it over again. This dear man is for unity of the Spirit and of the bretheren that he loves so dearly. I feel that it greives his heart to see the division caused by it. You would have to know the man as I do to fully understand this.

Men often live to regret decisions made during times of pressure and political agenda. I too along with others regret the decisions made and actions taken at that time. Pastor Poster pointed out that there were many factors and people involved in the ultimate decision. This is true.

Time marches on with many comrades gone missing.

Yes, amen. This is true.

The heartbreaking, crying shame is that so many good men, yes comrades are gone missing that need not have gone missing. Someone needs to track them down like bird dogs and bring them back home...with love and grace.

Someone once said that the Christian Army is the only Army in the world that buries it's wounded.

I remember seeing a sermon on TBN titled, "Help, I've Fallen and the Church Won't Let Me Get Back UP."

Too many have the dispicable attitude, "Don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out."

Another deplorable attitude among too many of us is, "Hey, they left on their own, if they want to come back, they will have to come back on their own."

Jesus came to SEEK and to SAVE that which was lost. We seem to have lost that spirit of love and grace...all compassing, reaching, and longing spirit of love and grace for those who are wounded, lost and perishing.

While we prop up the cross of Jesus, as though it needs to be proped up, while we polish and garnish it with niceties, as though it needs all of that, we have lost the spirit and desires of Him who died there.

Wonderful. A thread started to honor one of the greatest among us almost turned into another Affirmation Statement debate.

The man deserves honor and it's humorous to me that even honoring a well deserving Elder can be tarnished if we're not careful. The man deserves honor. Period.
