I read a tweet that said that football is supposed to be a diversion from all the craziness...thats why there is such a pushback because they are using an entertainment platform that people go to escape lifes worries and problems

If a president can use his place to call citizens SOB's, citizens can use their place to respond.

If DT does not like it, he can stop using the executive branch as a bully pulpit for attacking law abiding citizens.

If other citizens do not like the citizen response to president bully, they can tell the president to exercise discretion with his public statements.

SP - POTUS was very specific in who he called out. He called out those who were refusing to stand for the National Anthem.
It was very predictable what would happen next.
Because in the liberals minds it is far more important to resist POTUS than to honor the flag or the national anthem.
And in reality, the players can only continue their protests with the consent of the owners.
I believe the NFL now regrets letting Kaepernick get away with breaking their rules and protest.
It has cost them greatly.
The key demographic that supports the NFL is heavily supportive of POTUS. If the vote for POTUS had been limited to NFL Fans, DT would have won in a landslide.
The NFL has now offended that demographic. How much remains to be seen.
However, I have several friends who have been lifelong fans of teams in the NFL who say they are done with it.

Of course 45 bears no blame in escalating the situation.

One more thing, what he said was specific but what he implied was indeed offensive to just about the entire NFL.

If it were not so, then why the response?

And there was nothing proper or presidential about what 45 said or his approach, but let's just gloss over that and focus on the horrible NFL players, coaches, and owners who united in a show of solidarity in the face of the most un-presidential President ever.

Again, it's great how Trump was able to turn the protest on its head. By blasting the NFL and its team's owners, Trump turned it from an anti-American, leftist, anti-cop, anti-military and anti-flag protest into a "UNITY" protest in which most teams now are STANDING during the anthem, not kneeling...and are doing it for UNITY, not protest.
