Communion should always be spiritual but never without the bread and the cup.

I think that the way the term communion is used in this type of discussion is often untrue to the biblical usage and carries more of a Catholicism tainted outlook.

Communion is fellowship, association, participartion, intimacy... rather than the way we use it these days... as a title for an event.

Thank you sir... I want to take this opportunity to say that I have enjoyed all fo your thoughts in this thread. You present an opinion that speaks of a heart that is open to find what God's true design is for us as well as a spirit that is careful to search and pray thoroughly during this entire process.

We must be open to hear from the Lord while understanding that God does not have a username and password that he enters before speaking to us. To faithfully hear the voice and just as faithfully try the spirits along the way are 2 necessary elements who both stand in constant need of the other.

You are quite welcome!!! I simply desire to share what I have learned. Feel free to "eat the meat" and throw away the "bones!"

Spiritual communion kinda takes the fun out of Watchnight service ritght? I mean we all LOVE the matzah and grape juice/wine/whatever. The truth is as pentecostals we do not have many "ceremonies". The ones we do have(baptism, palm sunday, saturday afternoon softball) are precious to us. HOWEVER, we only do one thing that Christ commanded us to "Remember Me" in and that is communion. I would not want to do this "spiritually" because of the depth of closeness in which I feel to my saviour at the moment of partaking of this great ceremony. I would not want anyone to miss it.
