Exactly, they've openly stated that they want to restrict guns and that they think they're "evil", all while protected by an army of government employees who are armed. All their bluster of "responsible restrictions" is because they know they can't just make a direct grab for them (not because of the Constitution, but because of us gun owners).

Upon what basis does anyone have for believing ANYTHING government says?

If they released the secret classified JFK files tomorrow, why would anything, no matter what it was, be believable?

President Obama wouldn't have done that. President Obama was simply trying to find a way to keep the most dangerous weapons out of the hands of those who have no business having them. President Obama wouldn't have attempted to confiscate gun owner's guns because such an act would be not only brazenly controversial, it would have caused civil unrest. I'm a Democrat, and if any Administration came after any guns I owned, I'd be ready to fight.

I feel you. I have a general rule of thumb, regardless as to what party a politician belongs to, follow the money. If they are giving themselves and their billionaire buddies and corporations massive tax breaks, creating a web of tax shelters, and essentially raiding the public trust... they're crooks.
