We call it Private School at Home....hehe
As some are ignorant to the homeschooling concept, we at times would just say our children attend ABeka Christian Academy. It seems more palatable to some. lol

Re: Are your kids in public school?

We were a homeschool family for 18 years. It was one of the hardest and most rewarding things I have ever done. I miss it. All our children have graduated and continued on to college. Will soon become a grandmother for the first time and our daughter will be homeschooling when the time comes.

Abeka is such a good program. Every year my wife goes to their teacher and principle seminars in Pensacola. I tag along for fun. They have their act together. I can't imagine using anything else. Our school kids are far ahead of others in their same grade, but not in our school.

My wife bought them some summer school activity books to work on this summer. She had to go a grade or two higher just to find the material they covered this past school year.

The public schools have officially made academics their secondary purpose. Their primary purpose is social engineering.

Oh wow! That's incredible!
I really like it so far. Like I said, this us our first time using it. We've only been in it for 2 weeks though lol. (3rd grade) She's doing good so far..she gets frustrated at the speed of things..like saying the math facts aloud and really fast . Any tips on that? Lol

the only tip is really just repetition. The students in those videos have been doing that since kindergarten and are use to it. It won't be frustrating once she gets use to it. Once she gets those math facts down though, it will make it A LOT easier for her in later grades.

My wife recommends having her watch that part two or three times before moving forward. Do not allow her to use her fingers, or it will throw her off. after a couple of weeks of doing that, she should get use to how fast it moves. You can also buy the flash cards from Abeka and drill her outside of school time. It will take a bit to get use to the speed, but it will help her so much if she puts in the extra effort.
