Preaching is usually done by the pastor to the entire congregation. Adult ss is a learning environment with a teacher/student dynamic. It is a chance for students to ask questions. A feature uncommon during a sermon.
Biblical illiteracy is widespread. Education is the cure.
You touched on one of the biggest problem I believe is in the church today. Forgive me if this is getting off on a tangent but the reason I believe that most people leave church is due to them not being able to ask questions without being labeled negatively. You either agree with what is preached or go to hell. The bible speaks of getting an understanding. During a preaching sermon you can't ask questions to the pastor. If adult ss provides a forum to ask questions without being labeled then that is a good thing. Young people especially usually have questions about certain things. Let be real. Times are different now. YP experience things today we (older folks) just did not experience. This is why I think a separate service for them is needed. Having grown up in a church alone (family did not attend church, just me) I wasn't able to go home with my questions.
Just a thought.

you know what else isnt in the bible? an explination of what exactly preaching is.
Pizza.
music isnt in the NT either.
its a nonsense argument.
what is "adult ss" well gee. its that period of time when kids are learning about God and adults who are interested have a bible study.
You know what IS in the bible? TEACHING. and by teaching i am not refering to PREACHING. the bible is very clear that these two things are different things.
Further, the bible clearly tells us that the people of God DIE FROM A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.
so teaching, as opposed to preaching is vital to the christian experience. preaching as opposed to teaching is vital to the christian experience.
you can call it adult sunday school or adult bible study or time spent with your thumb in your nose. i dont really care what its called so long as we recognize that God called some to be pastors, and some to be teachers, and some to be evangelists, and some Apostles and some prophets. one of the five....drum roll please... is teachers.

I had a pastor that had a system that worked really well for all involved. He answered all Bible questions with only one stipulation. Write the question down and drop it in offering plate or put under his door. He would usually answer the questions on Sunday (larger attendance). Worked great, he could give a well thought out prepared answer and no one was embarrassed.

Why can't you just ask the Pastor later on? Why does it have to just be the Pastor? Is everyone else in the church dumb?
Its my understanding that SS is teaching time, not Q&A. You'll never teach anything if everyone is interrupting with questions

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
Please give a format. Im wondering how someone teaches a lesson if they are constantly interrupted with questions about the white horse in Revelation etc

So in school a student can't ask a question?
The reason you ask the pastor is because you want the "official, from heaven" answer. If you want something from a family, you don't ask the son for it? You ask the father, the head.
That being said, you may not feel comfortable asking the pastor a question after he put you hell for thinking differently. Plus pastors tend to have the narrowest view of things.
