they in good faith and for God ... put money they could've used for their children and to improve their lot in life ... is shameful ... only to turn around and ask other saints to carry the burden ... only IN CHURCH.

I don't think he needs to be punished by the brethern. He is punished enough by
the humiliation and probably is going to jail.I think he needs mercy. What if this was our dumb selves that did something so stupid and the brothers offered to help?
Don't lie l!!! You know you would be jumping in the car to pick up the check any of us would. It does not mean he won't go to jail though.Embezzlement is punishable by law.I just saw a family of three including the old sick mama in a wheel chair be carted off to state prison. She even took her oxygen tank with her.
The law is the law.Mercy is mercy.None of us deserve it but Jesus gave it to us.
The bible says mercy rejoiceth against judgement.

trying to pay it off, i could see, i guess....wanting to help make the whole thing less troublesome... But if it is to defend him or cover up from wrong actions, then that won't help him any... i know these are 2 diff situations..... but point of it is the same...
I was close to a situation where a minister was in an adultery. it was covered up and the minister and his wife were even given a vacation to "fall in love" again.... they'd only be married less than 10 years. did covering up the sin fix the problem ? NOOOO. You repent and make things right... and yes, you even have to sometimes step down from your position...

Once again he can be shown mercy but for other preachers to have their saints foot this man's bill shows contempt for the people of God

These saints at other churches aren't lining up to help him ... they are manipulated by cunning words ... to sympathize w/ his plight ....

I've seen this tactic used many a time ...

What if they really do want to help him and their church brethern? Its not a sin to love your brother even when he is wrong. He is going to be punished anyway. No one is out there I am sure twisting peoples arms to give or holding an offering plate in one hand and a pistol in the other.

If they want to offer money to help out a brother, that's fine...

but see what happens here? because of one man's foolish decision, so many people are put into a very bad spot... what gets me is that these things don't just happen over night. they are planned.... it's not like you just slipped up and stole... it was a process............ and yes, he needs mercy... Thank God we wake up with a brand new mercy each morning.

T ...

my father pastored a moderately sized church ....in NYC ... with over 350 members ...

Yet he was bi-vocational for over 15 years ... my mom worked her job to the day he died .... he never commanded more than 30k as a pastor.

A considerable amount of these men are squeezing their folks ... T ...

They have a distorted view of money and the effort people put in to attain it.

I believe this matter should not be handled in the courts but this man is accountable for his actions ...
