I think MOW should host the next AFF party. We can hold it near his home. I could come to that!

Of course, after the 'fat thread', I'm not sure I'd dare show my face (or any of the rest of me!)

Wish we could be there. We'll be in Ohio whilst you Ohioans will be in "Mehfus" (that's the way to say it correctly---like Elvis).
Restaurant suggestions:
If you want the real deal authentic BBQ = Blues City Cafe on Beale (For wet ribs) or Rendezvous (For dry rub ribs) (I like the wet better, but both are amazingly good)
BBQ Chicken = Cozy Corner (Cybil Sheppard's favorite restaurant. 1/2 a chicken smothered in the best BBQ sauce ever!)
Fried Chicken = Gus' Fried Chicken (in the hood, but really good!)
Soul Food = Melanie's (on Watkins---in the hood, you'll be the only "cracker" there but you can't beat Mother Leach's catfish, yams, butter beans and cornbread---they are Pentecostal, her son is a pastor I've preached for)
High Brow Dining = Jim's Place East (combination of American/Greek dining. The bill will be a little pricey, but every ounce of food will be worth every penny. Great quality food and ambiance)
Mexican = Las Tortugas (on Germantown Parkway. The owner, Pepe, grew up in Mexico City. He HATES Tex-Mex! Nothing you eat there will taste like any Mexican food you have ever eaten, unless, of course, you go to Mexico City. Its a Mexican deli and they specialize in a sandwich called a "tortuga". You can get chicken, steak, spicy Mexican pork, red snapper, jumbo sea scallops or lobster tail. The food is very unique and delicious! And while you're at it get a fresca 100% natural fruit drink---my personal favorite, the "Jamaica" made from a hibiscus flower)
Steak = The Butcher Shop (the Prime Rib is especially good, but you cannot get a bad steak on the menu---its all good!) (Alternative - Side Porch Steak House---close to our church, the prices are less than Butcher Shop, but the food is very good)
Breakfast = King Biscuit (on Dexter---just ate therelast week---awesome breakfast menu! Had the Eggs Benedict)
Dessert = Sheridan's Frozen Custard (Vanilla or Chocolate with any topping imaginable---sinful, absolutely sinful)
Off The Wall = Jimmy's Chicago Style Hot Dogs (Jimmy, brought up in the Windy City, has the best hot dogs anywhere! You can get the Paul Harvey, the Mike Ditka, the Al Capone, the Bill Murray or a dozen other varieties. His deep dish pizza is great too)
Pizza = Memphis Pizza Cafe (best pizza in town! Try the "Alternative Pizza"---you'll go back for more!)
Indian = India Palace (Get the Chicken Curry and the Shrimp seethed in Coconut milk. You have to eat the Cherry Sweet Bread)
Japanese = Benihana's (Get two orders of Hibachi rice)

Points of Interest
Graceland - if you come to Mehfus, you have to pay homage to The King.
Pink Palace Museum - a mansion built by a rich tycoon until the Depression hit and he had to file for bankruptcy. He donated the mansion to the city and they converted it into a museum. The house is built with pink Georgia granite. Very interesting museum
Beale Street - only go during the day. Lots of free blues being played all over.
Mud Island - take the tram to this man made island in the middle of the Mississippi. You will observe a scale model of the flow of the MS river from its headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico.
Civil Rights Museum - located at the old Lorraine Motel, the location of Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination. A very powerful experience of the struggle for civil rights and its achievements. Worth the experience.
Memphis Red Birds - the #1 minor league ballpark in the country! the AAA affiliate of the Cardinals, there is not a bad seat in the entire stadium. Make sure to get the BBQ nachos.
Sun Records - visit the old recording studio where Elvis cut his first 45 "That's Alright Mama". Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and other legends recorded here.
The Peabody Hotel - every morning at 9 am the ducks that swim in the fountain of the lobby come marching down from their townhouse on the roof of this historic hotel and every evening at 5 pm they march back up to retire. Watching the March of Ducks is worth your time, its a Memphis tradition.
Shiloh Battlefield - if you like Civil War history, this pivotal battle near Savannah, TN (about 2 hours east of Memphis) is one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields on par with Gettysburg and Antietam.
Memphis Zoo - a great zoo, with a newly added North American exhibit with polar bears, sea lions, black bears and other North American mammals. The Panda Bear exhibit was added a few years ago with the female recently conceiving a new baby.

My daughter has been wanting to go to Cedar Point. If we ever come I will make sure I let you know in advance. Even if SHE comes without me, I'll let you know in advance. That way she would have someone to call if she needs help.
