If Mary was teaching doctrine in the assembly, then Paul's words are contradicted.

If she was reporting something that happened - that the Lord had, in fact, risen - then Paul's words are not contradicted.

Think I'll go with the latter.
The issue becomes what is teaching, what is testifying, what is edifying and what is reporting. I'm not for women pastors at all, but there are times when a woman ministering the word is allowable, IMO. I see nothing in scripture which wouldn't allow that.

Re: Women Preachers

Those of you who think women are not supposed to speak in the assembly, what reason do you think the Bible (supposedly) gave for this? Do women's brains just not work quite right and so they can't effectively have anything worthwhile to say? I know you don't believe that is true, but just wondering what logical reason there could be for this dogmatic view?

Paul gave the reasons:

"for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law."

"for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

"For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."

No other reasons are needed. It has nothing to do with individual ability, intelligence, or any such thing. It has everything to do with proper Divinely instituted order in the church.

But you are assuming Paul was talking about preaching rather than just disruptions.

No I am not. I do notice that Paul seems to indicate a woman speaking in church creates a disruption, tho...

"For it is a shame for women to speak in the church" isn't saying that it's a shame for women to speak in a service in a building. As has been pointed out many many times here on the forum, a building isn't the church.

Our bodies are God's TEMPLE/church, it is He that we are all subject to. WE are the bride/wife---HE is the husband.

Yeshua Bless You

A temple IS a church

Re: Women Preachers

We are not under the Law, we are under grace.
Galatians 3:25, 5:18, Romans 6:14-15
We follow the commandments out of love for our God and not because of law
Teach love with forgiveness, charity and compassion.

Fine, she can preach to her heart's content... as long as the church ain't in the building.
