Interestingly, IW claims "Section 1501(g)(2) of the Affordable Care Act also states that the IRS cannot 'file notice of lien with respect to any property of a taxpayer by reason of any failure to pay the penalty imposed by this section.'”
I couldn't find this in the ACA, though it's very difficult to read.

I had understood they couldn't do that. But, if they could, what about the "homsstead exemption", which we have in Texas?

Federal law trumps state law, or so they've said. MA people are allowed religious exemption from the state healthcare law, but they said the ACA trumps it.

Yes, I do recall them saying Federal law trumps state law now.

Here's how to find the info:
Search on FB group "Open Your Eyes People". It is a FB group. Scroll down to today's entry from 12:55am. It is a screen shot of the FB page "HealthCare.gov".

Re: The "Affordable" Care Act
So I went to Kaiser's website to see 1) how much premiums would likely be and 2) to see if I could get a government tax subsidy/tax credit to help pay for the premiums.
For my family consisting of 2 adults and 1 child, all non-tobacco users, at my single income....
My premium for the "silver" package would be $405 per month. This does not include anything they may consider pre-existing health conditions.
The annual premium is $4,868. Now, I may be eligible for a tax credit of $3,974, which they say would lower my annual amount to $894 or $75 per month.
Here's the deal with that, though. Tax credits are not cash money. I would still have to pay the $405 per month and hope that when I did my taxes, the $3,974 in credit (along with any other tax credits) would give me enough of a tax refund to reimburse me the $405 I'd have to pay every month.
Thankfully, I have insurance through my employer. I couldn't "afford" this "Affordable" care insurance.

Re: The "Affordable" Care Act
ZERO enroll in Louisiana bummercare plan...
SOURCE LINK
Quote:
Louisiana’s top health-insurance provider said that not a single person enrolled in a new health-care plan offered through the Affordable Care Act on its first day.
An executive with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana told the Times-Picayune that the agency was unable to sell the plan because customers were unable to access the HealthCare.gov website due to its website’s sluggishness. “It was not as intense as we had anticipated,” the company’s vice president of communication said of the company’s sales. He urged supporters and critics, however, to “take a deep breath and relax” and assured them that the website would eventually allow consumers to enroll in a plan.
|
Yah, I'd say having ZERO people enroll isn't that intense.
