It's a fun idea for a fundraiser. Nowhere on that website does it reference the ties being "highly anointed" or say anything that looks like hero worship. FYI, one of the ties listed belonged to a NC congressman.

While most of the church world has gone casual dressing up in suits and ties is still a big part of old time Pentecost culture so I don't have a problem with this as long as they are not presenting the ties like Ruth Reider Harvey Har Har does uncut hair. Which is as some sort of magical token.

I think for men who dress up a lot it is cool for them to be able to bid on a tie worn buy someone they admire as a way to raise money for a good cause.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I suppose on that note I would more than gladly wear a tie that was once worn by Harrison Ford.

I bet the sandals of peter would have brought a pretty penny into the coffers of the early church. Pauline peanut brittle would be a great money maker too.

Jesus said His church would be built upon monetary gimmickry, didn't he?

Even the early church needed money. Stuff costs money.

Why did the early church need money?

Re: A Whole New Level of Apostolic Hero Worship

Because things liek food cost money. Helping the poor and orphans wasn't free. Perhaps you missed when Paul wrote to the other churches saying he was in need and they took a collection for him. Prolly cost money to travel to new lands on missions, both for Paul and the others.

Really...what didn't, or still doesn't, cost money? Even if you only meet in homes there is still cost somewhere that must be paid for by either the host alone or the church as a whole.

Apostolic
Pickers

Hey Mike, you’re not gonna believe what I found.

Yo. Frank, what is it? A 16th century vase? Somethin from the Ming Dynasty?

No, man, this is something’ even more valuable. Man, I’ve always wanted one of these.

For, cryin out loud, Frank, not another antique toy truck.

No… wait, let me dig it out. Okay, got it.

Ouch!… good work Frank, You just knocked that pile of worthless cloths over on me.

Worthless? You call this worthless?

Its just a cheap tie.

No it ain’t. This is a Lee Stoneking original. He wore it the night he preached “Magic Holy Hair”.

Really? Are you sure? How do you know?

I’ve seen the video and he was wearin’ this same tie. Besides , can’t ya feel the “nointin’ on it? Man we gotta have this….. Its priceless.

Com’on, Frank, don’t act too excited. They’ll jack up the price. Call Danielle and see if we can get it in the Jacksonville auction. Offer ‘em ten bucks for it.

What a blatantly false, misleading, irresponsible, and slanderous thread.

As was mentioned, nowhere is it mentioned or even insinuated that these ties are anointed or special. It's a fundraiser.

Some people are so full of hate towards the UPC, they'll slander and lie about anything, even something so small as a fundraiser.
