Those aren't about self-defense. They are about not being vengeful, not seeking revenge, not holding a grudge, etc....
Not applicable to this conversation.
not a huge leap between "self defense" and "pre-emptive" self defense. self defense is just another war monger excuse, nothing based in the true principles of scripture.

Slapping someone's face is not life-threatening. It's about pride. You know the secular term for it....b slap. It's a direct affront to a person's pride and ego. THAT is what the principle of that verse is about. It has absolutely nothing to do with a person defending himself against someone threatening his life.

There's a massive leap between a person defending himself against someone trying to kill him, and a person walking up to someone whom he thinks may attack him and pre-emptively attacking that person.
My owning a gun for self-defense does NOT make me a warmonger. And if you think so, you should find out what warmonger actually means.

If you have a daughter/mother/niece and saw them getting raped, would you resist evil and allow your family member to get raped, or would you become violent and pull the rapist from off your family member?
Remember, under criminal justice, touching or spitting on a person is considered battery/assualt. Pulling the rapist off your family member is resorting to violence (physically touching and pulling another person off your family member). What would you do?
Me? I'd kick them in the head and keep him/her at gunpoint while calling the police. If the rapist had a knife, I'd make a 40 caliber sized window in his/her forehead or temple.
