Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.

I had a preacher one time who preached over the pulpit several times that a woman nursing her baby was of the devil. He said that God wanted woman to feed their babies with a bottle and not to nurse, because nursing takes women out of church, and women don't need to miss church for any reason. So, therefore every time I would walk out to nurse my baby he would rant and rave about women missing church to nurse their baby!
I am not making this story up. Seriously true. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
One thing it did, we got ourselves out of that church as quick as we could. And never have gone back.
The man is crazy, and yet... he is still ordained with the UPC. We spoke to Bro. David Bernard about this man's teachings... Bro. D. B. was the district super at the time, and he refused to do anything about the situation either. The man is still a UPC minister today!
Seems like nursing women and babies can bring the worst out in some people???
I agree with Ms. Brattified, that because our culture is so "oversexed" that they can't handle something as normal as perfectly covered mother nursing her child, although nursing in a nursery is definitely preferable to doing it in a crowd.
