Re: Any good natural sleep remedies?

To whom it may concern:

First off, thanks Renee for letting us know about this forum over at MC. I just signed up tonight (can't sleep so will post what "works" for me in better times as a sleep aid haha.) And here I am. Middle of the night. I had major surgery 2 weeks ago and am still unable to take any of my vitamins or herbal supplements for another few days so my sleeplessness is on hold lol.

What works under normal routine/s in my life is a simple formula I buy over the counter & can be found at CVS, Walgreens (haven't come across it at Walmart yet,) and my local supermarket.

It's called "MidNite PM." You may have tried this one too Renee. It is the only Melatonin formula that works for me. There's 2-3 varieties of MidNite PM. The ONLY formula that works for me are the chewable tablets w/Bromelain, 1.5 mg Melatonin, lemon balm/chamomile/lavender extracts. I sleep like a kitten when using this formula. Heck, it is now 4:09 a.m. so I may take one yet tonight.

Plain Melatonin either keeps me wide awake if not enough to knocked out with anywhere from 3-5 mg tablets. Those things would make me sleep 24/7 if I tried using those. The 2.5 and under just left me awake. So the proprietary blend of Midnite PM I can use must be just a special blend; all non-narcotic and supposedly non-addictive. With that, and this being my very first post, I will attempt to go back to sleep! Bon appetit!

Re: Any good natural sleep remedies?

I have had trouble sleeping off and on most of my life...I used to stress about it which made it worse of course...so now I just accept it. If I wake, I will lay for a bit to see if sleep returns, if not I get up for awhile, if I get sleepy I go back to bed if not...well it can be a long day! I don't nap and I try to go to bedabout the same time each nite! At some point my sleep routine returns until the next time...I have found the best way to deal with it and just let it happen.........

Take a dose of two or three chapters of Leviticus before bedtime. That should do the trick.

Re: Any good natural sleep remedies?

One thing that has helped me in the past is:

Start with 1/2 cup of water.
3 strong shakes of Tabasco.
1 TBSP of horse radish
10 drops of lemon juice
Dash of salt
Finally, 1 teaspoon of wassabi.

Stir thoroughly until mixed, then close eyes and drink all at once. Do not sip!

Wait, that is my morning cure for what originally got me to fall asleep in the first place the night before, which is:

Randy, I use a lot of cayenne and habernaro, but WOW---all of that at once?
Yeah, it ought to wake you up.

Re: Any good natural sleep remedies?

If you really want something to put you to sleep, check out a few of the sermons here.

http://holiness-preaching.com/

(I only post this link because I actually DO listen to quite a few here. I also turn OFF many more 5-10 minutes into them when they become screaming fits with zero content, but still there are actually some real gems -no sarcasm meant, if you search long enough.)

Re: Any good natural sleep remedies?

Thank You Randy. I'll check it out. Not to put me to sleep, that would keep me awake, because I would then start thinking too hard.
