The scripture reveal Jesus Christ, however, they have been stewarded by men, therefore thru translation and men's bias, the scripture that we hold are not perfect.
Having said that, we must and we can search the scriptures and in them we can find the revealing of Jesus, the "words of life".
Yup. Imperfect in what turns out to be an irrelevant sense.
Sheer number of copies and just a little search renders like all of this moot, imo.
There is no lack of witness.
Jesus, people say, is all about grace. Forgiveness, meekness, loving your enemy. There is none of that in Numbers 31. There is vengeance, death, unforgiveness.
Yes, that was B.C., but Crakjak didn't seem to qualify his statement.

Mmm; but Crakjak's statement does make basic assumptions that your Num 31 post just ignores.

There is no lack of witness to the one seriously searching, however to say that it is very easy and just anyone can clearly see the true meaning of scripture is naive in my opinion.

I don't disagree with you, Crak, the real weighty issues seem to be fairly consistent, but it makes one question the concept of "infallibility" of the Word.

It's easier to let someone else define the boundaries, tell them which blanks to fill in, and what color to use than it is for them to take a blank canvas and seek inspiration from the Source in order to paint their own masterpiece"
Any individual scripture will not tell the whole story. Where God actually told Moses to kill all the males and married women, is open to question, as is the command to take all the virgins for themselves. Seems that Moses may have been acting in revenge, and self-service????
However, maybe the Midians have been so evil in their dealings that God used Israel to execute judgment on that nation. As with Hitler and Saddam, their cup overflowed with evil, and judgment took them out.
By Israel taking the virgins, it insured a new day for the heritage of the Midians, an opportunity for a more righteous future.
That is why just use of capital punishment is righteous, it should cleanse the culture of the worst of the worst, those that cannot be rehabilitated.
Don't forget this life is not the end only the beginning.

Ah, didn't mean to imply that; I agree with you.
Many Scriptural concepts require "Seek, and find,"
but I don't like to affirm what I see quickly leading to
"no one knows, and there is no way to tell, and Scripture is hopelessly polluted, and useless as a guide," etc.
