???

My assertion is that yesterday's bad day on Wall St had little to do with the President's speech and everything to do with what's going in Europe.

I'm not wrong in my assertion.

You know where the "uncertainty" is with the President's plan is not what he said, but it's in his ability to get Congress to approve his plan-- a reflection of the partisan politics that immobilizes Washington when it should be working for the people.

If you don't want to believe me, take it up with Reuters.

Read what the Wall Street Journal has to say about the matter-- make sure you read the article and notice how many paragraphs are devoted to the European instability.

Again, some conservatives just want to criticize the President just because of who he is. Where are the conservatives who can realize that if this plan passes COngress, it would be AN EXCELLENT thing for people all across the country!

Re: The Markets React to Obama's speech!

I have criticized President Obama on many occasions.

My purpose in posting on this thread is to point out how quickly and erroneously some conservatives want to put today's bad news on the President.

Jermyn, with all due respect, the market fluctuates wildly with every wind that blows out of the politicians mouth. The prez is the POTUS! Yes, the market IS going to react one way or another as they view the potential effects of his speech and what he is laying out.

It happens every time! Watch what happens when either him or the Fed chairman speak. I remember watching when Greenspan would say anything... the market would go wild.

The market decided that Obama's proposal was hot air and that it was going to continue to hit the future of America. That is what the market is all about. Futures! future growth, future profits and etc.

What Obama is doing is hurting the future of this country and the markets reacted accordingly. Even the overseas markets reponded.

That is the way it is Jermyn. Yes, yesterday was the presidents fault, he dropped the ball.

Jerymn,
It isn't quickly and erroneously anything. It is simply a news development and cause and effect.

Even Larry Kudlow (Economist) is saying the stock market plunge is a result of the Greek default, recent al-Quaeda threat AND the leaked reports leading up to Obama's speech. A $450 billion plan, 50% of the stimulus plan of 2009, which did NOT work. He is giving us the same plan on a smaller scale and that is what we knew he would do.

Aside from that and at the core of my angst with Obama is when he said that we needed a "living, breathing Constitution" that "changes with the times". He is actually recommending the very system the Colonists sought to escape from in England.

The British constitution was very flexible. It was much to flexible for the Colonists. The Colonists were "inflexibly" committed to upholding their traditional rights. The "living, breathing" British constitution was no safequard of American liberties.

Hence, steps in the Tea Party, in this hour, and you should be glad for it.

Re: The Markets React to Obama's speech!

Tell you what.

Let's leave the color or lack of it out of this discussion and just settle for the facts.

Fact 1- Obama give speech telling America and the Market that he is going to put us another 500 Bill in the red.

Fact 2- Market drops over 300 points.

Fact 3- World markets drop citing this as one of the 3 factors in the drop.

Fact 4- The markets slapped down the POTUS for his wild and wacky ways!
