Social Security = the only mandatory Ponzi scheme in America.
Every individual has their own personal economy, i.e. - how they chose to deploy their finite resources based on the realities of their situation. To force someone, by law, to rearrange those priorities not only destroys their freedom to spend their money as they please, but it forces them to neglect the original priorities they had set for their own money. Therefore, forcing people to put aside money for a future event makes everything else they need NOW less affordable.
Who knows better how my life requires my finite resources be spent: me (who has first hand knowledge of my own economy) or Uncle Sam (who forces me into a pidgeon hole based on their slide-rule formulas)?
