I am among those who have lived under a godly pastor ... yet I refuse to ignore the fact that many have been less fortunate.

Quit feeding the thing, refuse to discuss it, refuse to meditate on it, get up and go on with life it is too short to waste on folks who could care less they hurt you. The ones who hurt you are enjoying life they are not worrying how they hurt you.
Go get a banana split or chocolate sundae and find someone to laugh with.
Some said "life is to short to dance with an ugly woman."
Enjoy the people who love you and forget those who could care less.

I agree with what you're saying... sort of. But, I also think that some things need time to heal, just as a physical wound does.

Daniel,
I don't think anyone is "refusing" to ignore that some have been less fortunate.

Is it irresponsible to have support groups, forums and books that speak on these issues????

Dan no one is ignoring the fact folks have been abused but they have to move on. Bitter or Better that is the choice can't have both.
Let it go or stay it's prisoner.
Think about it when you forgive them it releases YOU from prison and does nothing for them.

Is his, later in life, prison uniform a sign of past abuse? One wonders, can abuse be not just dis-allowance but can it also be allowance?

So are you saying your saints are your children? lol

Does forgiveness .... necessarily mean forgetting ... or not talking about it anymore?

You're absolutely correct -- but not treating it could lead to infection.
