Also, I do believe the the Democrats were in total control of our country, via Congress and the Presidency for TWO years.
Are they blameless in your eyes?
And by total control, I mean the Republicans were powerless to stop whatever the Democrats wanted to do. They had a vote-proof majority.
Thank God that time is over.

While the Democrats had the majority for two years the Republicans used the FILIBUSTER over 90 times. The Republicans use the power of the filibuster.
The rules should not have applied to my post, it was an email that I received, but here it where the Michael Moore's Speech is.....

For the benefit of some that may not want to go to the website, I reposted the speech below:
Speech delivered at Wisconsin Capitol in Madison, March 5, 2011
America is not broke.
Contrary to what those in power would like you to believe so that you'll give up your pension, cut your wages, and settle for the life your great-grandparents had, America is not broke. Not by a long shot. The country is awash in wealth and cash. It's just that it's not in your hands. It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and consumers to the banks and the portfolios of the uber-rich.
Today just 400 Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans combined.

Yes, we have a right to our money, but it seems for 8 years Bush gave it to the wealthy. Do you remember how Bush squandered the Clinton surplus within 6 months of coming into office? Do you remember how Bush gave it all to the wealthiest in tax breaks? And, NO I did not like President Obama caving in to the Republicans by extending the Bush tax cuts to the rich in December, but it was the only way to help 2 million Americans that needed unemployment for a few more weeks. Did you read the post about Michael Moore's speech in Wisconsin, that I reposted for you?

Steal from the rich.
Bush never gave a dollar to the rich. Tax breaks mean taking less dollars. They do give to the poor by welfare and EIC.
One thing abiut libs. They can't discuss economics intelligently nor honestly.
Our deficit was over 200 billion last month. 2007 before the dem crooks showed up in congress, our total annual deficit was less.

jf - it's the mindset that I have a problem with. The government needs MY money to operate. The point is that it is still my money, not theirs.
However, many people, usually left-wingers, have the viewpoint that it is not MY money, but the governments.
The two mindsets lead to entirely different ways of handling government spending.
The MY money viewpoint leads to smaller government, with the point being to take as little as possible from the people.
The governments money viewpoint leads to larger government, since all of the money belongs to them anyway and they let us keep some because they are so nice.

Jay - have you read about a "fair tax"? I have been looking at this for a short time and it looks interesting.
Go to fairtax.org!

SS - I read Moore's speech, before it was posted here. Would you believe that Michael Moore is RICH? That should make him evil in your eyes, correct?
Also, do you remember who controlled Congress during GWB's presidency?
Do you know that GWB cannot start any legislation?
So, why do you insist on blaming Bush.
I am actually on vacation this week, so I haven't had much time to respond to MM's article.
The wife and kids are keeping me busy!

Re: Why do you have a right to your money?
You should ask the question.....Why do some people have to pay taxes and some don't?
Or maybe this one ...Why do the rich folks pay less percent taxes on their income, than anyone in the working middle class making less than $50,000 a year?
Another question, If the cost of living is $10,000 a year, and you only make $11,000 and the rich guy makes $250,000...Who should pay more taxes?
The answer to the question is that the government workers have to be paid, and people in need has to be helped, so we all should pay our taxes. I heard on the news today that one of the big oil companies did not pay federal taxes at all. Does that sound fair? It doesn't to me.

Less dollars means more in your pocket, that is like giving to the rich.
How does the rich give to the poor by welfare and EIC?
It is a proven fact that when Bush came in as President that there was a surplus, and he then gave it to the wealthy. That is when the economy started dropping. After eight years this really has hurt our country.
