It is the same way here in Illinois. It drives me crazy to hear so much of this praise and worship music being sung in churches. I find the overheads to be a bit distracting and rather unnecessary.
I might be able to live with that if they did not also use the overhead to display the text from the Bible. I was always taught that you brought your Bible and read from it instead of off the wall.
Those are some of my pet peeves about the changes that I see occurring. Of course, I was raised in what today is a rather conservative home.

We used to put the 33 1/3 album on the stereo and listen to stuff like this while getting 5 kids ready for Sunday School and Church. Now those kids are middle age adults and go to churches where they sing "off the wall"

*gasp* Terry Terrell...one I've loved listening to since he came out on the radio here in Dallas back in '05. A sound all his own and one I love for sure!

I gotcha, I gotcha. Okay, are you familiar with Sharron Kay King's music? She's based in Macon, GA.
Here's her website: www.sharronkayking.com
Her music came out about the same time as Terry's; her first song was Small Piece of Clay, then another was "My Best Friend." You can hear samples of several of her songs on ilike.com. Just type her name in; Sharron is spelled correctly. I think you'll enjoy if you don't already know who she is...
